Consultant: UAL Can''t Handle Low-Fare Competition
WASHINGTON (Aviation Daily) - The Air Transportation Stabilization Board’s claim that United can’t handle low-fare competition is right on target, says consultant Morten Beyer of Morten Beyer and Agnew. Frontier is “eating their lunch at Denver,†and ATA is doing the same at Chicago Midway, he says, blaming per-mile seat costs that are nearly twice that of rivals. Beyer thinks management and unions aren’t capable of the “draconian overhaul†United needs to survive.
