DALLAS, May 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines and the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) 550, which represents the Company's Meteorologists, announce they have reached a tentative agreement on the group's first-ever contract.  Terms of the four-year deal include adjusted wage-scale step increases, as well as opportunities for bonuses that are linked to individual and Company performances.

The agreement carries an amendable date of June 1, 2019, and is subject to membership ratification.

the actual terms of the deal will be key.

It is also noteworthy that several of WN's competitors do not have their own meteorologists so the basis of comparison is not all airlines. The market will be set based on meteorologists and not other WN labor groups compared to their peers at other airlines.

Further, the meteorologists are a pretty small group. ONLY IF WN's meteorologists were already paid at or above market and got more than the couple percent pay raises that other groups have been given is there any reason to think this agreement means much.
