Choice seating

One thing I wouldnt mind is if the airlines would start charging people for oversized carryons! Or at the very least, enforce the policy and not let these idiots carry on the gigantic bags that they cant even get down the aisle. How about a stupid person charge? Ask stupid questions, get charged more. Or a surcharge for children from the ages of newborn - 12? Another one I'd love is if they'd start charging us by weight :) at least it would be a good weight loss incentive.

Could you imagine... "US Airways is proud to feature a coach rate of $2.48 /lb this week". Our First Class is $3.87 /lb this week". The kiosk will adjust your ticket based on your actual weight today.

It isn't so off base, I mean, this is how we ship freight?

Great ideas

If they implemented the stupid person charge how much would members of the management team have to pay?
You will see how fast Customer Friendly stuff gets started. They enacted the $25 for second checked in bag, I personally don't have any problems there, just as long as my bag gets there. Them charging for a better seat, well that is about the intelligence of a George W Bush speech. seats in row 6a are the same as in 19a. Legroom is the same and if you have bulkhead, or E-row seating, you have the tray tables in the armrest. Someone stated earlier that Handicap seats are available all over the plane, while I agree to that at a very limited way, keeping the disabled in a certain area together, would make it easier on the Flight Crew keeping up with them. Whether they are all in the back or where ever, just they can not be in a E-Row.

<_< <_< So just what IS a better seat on US? I just flew JB and paid 40 rt for a seat upfront with 38 inches. It was so comfortable and came w/ free TV. Why oh why would anyone fly US? i just don't understand.
Just a guess on my part, but maybe because US flys to many, many, more places than Blue does.

The reason upcharges and add ons work but fare increases do not is the entire electronic ticket distribution system. Your tickets have to be the same pproce as the others or they will not get sold, so if your $15 more you don't sell the seats but if your the same you will sell them and then have a shot at extra charges. This is without a doubt a most price sensative business.

Surprisingly, they have thought this through and the extra charges can be refunded if your bag does not make it to your destination with you.

They ought to have to refund your ENTIRE ticket price.

I dont understand your reasoning. If they got YOU to your final destination, why should they have to refund your ENTIRE ticket too?
You know, I really feel for a lot of you guys and all thats changed in traveling, but to continue harping on something that most of you here (Preferred guys) arent even going to have to deal with makes some of you look petty. I agree Tempe hasnt been anywhere close to forthright and most of their changes havent been customer or employee friendly, but when they make a policy and its actually the correct thing to do (refunding extra money if your bag doesnt make it) and you continue to ride them, I just have to wonder if thats one of the reasons Tempe has quit paying attention to some of you. If you have a legit complaint and things arent working, have at them, but to continue the attacks over every little thing just make some of you look bitter and never going to be satisfied so why should they even bother trying to work with you? If they gave you a million frequent flyer miles some of you'd complain that they were capacity controlled.

NEWS FLASH!!! Thie just in to the Channel 6 News Room! Blind Squirrel finds acorn! Film at Eleven! Back to you Jimbo
He was my favorite Meteorologist on Channel 6, Jim O'Brien. It really was ashamed he died the way he did, but did so doing something he loved so much.

HERE'S THE EMAIL THAT WAS SENT TO ALL DM MEMBERS....................

We've changed our seating options, but not for you
Preferred Seats are now Choice Seats, but as a Dividend Miles Preferred member, you'll still be able to select exit row seats and aisle or window seats in the first several rows of Coach anytime after you book your flight. And just like before, you won't pay for the most desirable seats in Coach.
Beginning May 7, non-Preferred passengers will be able to purchase Choice Seats assignments for as little as $5 per flight, depending on destination and flight length during Web Check-in only (24 hours and up to 90 minutes prior to departure).

Your exclusive Dividend Miles Preferred benefits include:

Choice Seats (free of charge)
The most generous upgrade window in the industry
Unlimited complimentary upgrades (within the continental U.S., Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean & Latin America)
Earning and maintaining status with segments or miles
Second checked bag (free of charge)
Silver or Gold status with Star Alliance partners
Priority stand-by, security lanes, check-in and boarding
Award travel for as low as 25,000 miles

Remember, Preferred member status means you don't pay extra and you don't have to wait — you can reserve a seat anytime after booking your flight.

Thank you for your continued loyalty.

AGAIN.................WHERE IS THERE A BETTER SEAT ON US? ATLEAST WITH UA & B6 YOU HAVE EXTRA LEGROOM. MA & PA KETTLE AIN'T GONNA PAY TO SIT FURTHER FORWARD WHEN THEY PAID ONLY $200 FOR THAT CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT.

NO MATTER HOW YOU TRY TO SPIN THIS IT'S JUST ANOTHER TEMPE EXCUSE FOR NOT PROPERLY RUNNING A PROFITABLE AIRLINE.

Good Afternoon. Thank you for calling Nickle and Dime Airlines.

Please have your credit card ready because there are a number of fees and service charges you will be required to pay.

Now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,how may I help you?

And here is the email I received today - since I no longer have status on US I got a different email. Wonder if I still have to pay even though I am Star Alliance Gold? They neglected to mention that!

So just wait until the FA asks someone in a "Choice" seat to move so that a family can sit together! Good luck on that one - sure - I'll be happy to move if you give me $20 bucks!

Just one more reason not to fly on US!

Starting May 7, we'll introduce our new Choice Seats — select aisle and window seats in the first several rows of Coach. You'll have the option to purchase a Choice Seat assignment during Web Check-in (from 24 hours and up to 90 minutes prior to departure). That means aisle and window seats are likely to still be available even for last minute travelers.

Dividend Miles Preferred members have the benefit of reserving a Choice Seat assignment free of charge.

The price for Choice Seats varies by destination and length of flight. Choice Seats are available on all US Airways operated flights except the US Airways Shuttle and Colgan operated Saab 340 aircraft.
