Camps - great, bad and weird

What about some of the "good camps"? There''s camps in Northen Quebec that could hardly be called "roughing it". 24 hour porn on every TV, frog legs fried in garlic butter for supper, endless supplies of maple syrup.....I recall many a basketball game on the full-size hardwood indoor courts in LG4, Post Montagnaise looked like something out of a sci-fi flick, and there wasn''t much you couldn''t buy from the stores.

I almost miss it (mostly the porn )

Although it wasn''t a camp I remember a remarkable week in Fort Smith back in 72 or 73. I had hitched a ride in a Liftair 47 from Hay River after working on Wild Bill Tucker''s Aloutte II and was in Ft Smith to fix one of LiftAir''s 47s. It was raining and the entire airport was full of machines on spec. Needless to say the Legion and the Hotel were getting a severe working over. A Yank pilot was there with an AIII on the Wood Buffalo contract, I think that the a/c belonged to Ralph Hancock (?) and he had his 16 year old nephew with him. Some of the guys, including a certain fellow now working a Springbank, invested a great deal of $$$ with two of the local lassies to "change his oil" so to speak. I think the crowning moment was a dozen so-called adults all trying to peek into the window of the motel at the appropriate time
Now those were the days
