A well-publicized FAA fine was imposed on the airline in June. The record $5 million fine was imposed over maintenance issues, primarily oversight and changes in recommended procedures. America West admitted no wrongdoing, and half the fine was forgiven after a restructuring of the maintenance oversight procedures. Eventually, this would lead to yet another change in heavy maintenance contractors.

The relationship with the FAA was poor, leading to further restrictions on growth until the FAA was assured maintenance could handle the extra aircraft. The airline was not in good shape.
 
I find the maturity level concerning.
well, the chronological maturity level on the east may be pretty high, but certainly not the emotional maturity level. East people btich about everything. The US board is by far the most used . .and the vast majority of those posts come from east people. All re-hashing the same crap over & over again. yes, you have been though a lot of crappy things in your past ..but if that's the case . .MOVE ON. If you don't like something, you make a change.

Example: east people got a huge win when boarding went by year of hire. But what did a lot of east people do? Complain that it wasn't strictly date of hire. Get over it.

Do you know how many people are hired within the same year? Just this past Sunday, the whole crew tried to non-rev home early from a trip. There were four CLT- DCA flights leaving at the exact time due to the airport closing for hours. The flights were full. Three of us were hired the same year. It wasn't the easiest thing to compromise since we all needed to get home. It would have been a non-issue if it was DOH, but I guess you don't understand that since you haven't had it.

well, why didn't you make the best of it and look for a husband while you were waiting for the next flight out?

Too Sweet :shock: What ended up happening was that I chose to fly to IAD so that we could all get home.

and THAT is where you found the husband?

and the bitterness of the espresso brownie offsets the sweetness of the frappucino ;)

You could try tattooing "CACTUS" on your chest. There are some people that are in love with that word even if it means d*ckhead in Australia. They'll overlook any teeny flaws you may have...let's try that!!!!
 
What are you going to show them?? Maybe how to run off the end of a runway into a dike, or Hit some buildings on landing, or land on top of a commuter plane on a runway. They didn't call your airline US Scareways in the 90's for nothing.

The US east owns those accidents. No question.

Overall, the causes were similar, relatively low time pilots committing errors inexperienced pilots moving into the left seat in a premature manner commit.

I believe the US east simply wants to avoid a rehash with yet another group of novices.
