“AMFA’S record reflects their willingness to sacrifice the jobs of many to save the wages of the few.â€￾
Kevin Hammock (taken from TWU Anti-AMFA video)

"The TWU's record reflects their willingness to sacrifice the wages and benefits of ALL to save the jobs of a few low senior members"
RUM@AA

The way I see it, high senior mechanics invested 15, 20, 25 or more years into this profession at AA in order to earn high pay and superior benefits only to have them taken away so the TWU could temporarily "save" no more than a small percentage of overhaul jobs for the likes of this unelected TWU zealot and his ilk.
Many of these high senior mechs endured lay-offs in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and would never even have considered subjecting their high senior union brothers to lower pay and benefits to temporarily save their jobs. And every single one of them came back to their previous pay.
Respect for seniority is gone.

I logged into E-Pays today and looked at my pay, noticed that it was significantly lower than in days past, but I couldn't for the life of me find how many jobs I saved.
Anyone out their get into this profession to save jobs?

Jesus, Rum, "you hit the (proverbial) nail right on the head" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a AMT(just a crummy ramp rat) "BUT" the theory is the same for TW-Useless member everywhere.

While the debate will rage forever, that a union is suppose to do "2" key things, protect seniority, and protect union jobs.
Between the two, NOTHING can ever "trump" seniority, "NEVER"

Back when this union(twu) was HDQ'd in New York, leadership would have NEVER dared to "divide and conquer" it's members(senior vs Junior) because back then they knew DAM well, that they would have had a FULL scale RIOT, on their hands.

Sadly(fast forward) to the international being re-located from New York to "you know where", coupled with, too many members having to rely on a Websters Dictionary, or a video of "HOFFA"(Jack Nicholsen), to learn the meaning of what a union is all about, is why we are, where we are today.

My heart goes out to the "very small" minority of younger guys/gals(20-30-40's), who are real union men/women, and have to endure this #### for decades.

For me, I'll be retired(early) in the next 30 days, and I swear to GOD, I won't look back(on this ABORTION of a company) once, "NOT ONCE" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NH/BB's

Good Luck, and "GO AMFA" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear the labor movement is losing a good union man. Enjoy, and fill out an AGW card before you go!

Hope you live a long happy retirement.

To: NHB.

Enjoy the retirement. Too bad no early-out package.

Have read your comments through the years and enjoy your spirit and energy. Your not always right, but at least you keep the topics alive. More than most of us do.

I, like you, have seen the better days at AA and the airline industry. So sad.

Good Luck!

ditto newhampshire black bear, wished you could convert a few before you leave and wish you the very best in retirement! LIVE LONG AND PROSPER BROTHER

NHBB,
I hope you stay active on the boards. I enjoy reading your posts. Enjoy the retirement. Since I've been furloughed, I've decided that gainful employment is highly over-rated anyway. :p

As to the topic...
Maybe the TWU has been studying with the master of screwing the workers for the benefit of the union officers--John Ward, President of AApfa (dba APFA).

Probably the other way around since the TWU has been doing it a lot longer. You guys left the TWU because of it, too bad that things seem to have come full circle over there. Its a sad statement about the corruptability of people. Is the rumor true about John Wards mansion?

Depends on what you call a mansion. Compared to my one-bedroom condo, yes the rumors are true. I heard that it is in the $300,000-$400,000 range. Not a mansion by Dallas standards, but pretty pricey for a trolley dolly, don't you think?

Well everyone who works and makes the sacrifices required in this industry should have a decent home. I thank God that I was able to get one back when they werent so obcenely priced, or is it that our wages are obscenely low?

Why is the APFA so isolationist? Why dont you guys look to hook up with the other Flight attendant unions?

The time has come for airline workers to make their case. We need to restructure the whole thing. You guys are ahead of us as a class and craft . The mechanics are finally seeing the light and all going to AMFA and now the ground workers are looking to form the AGW. There should only be one union for each class and craft so that we can standardize contracts and force the airlines to compete through better business practices instead of competing through labor costs.

<_< Good Luck Bear!---I'm glad to hear someone can afford to retire! Uncle Carl Ichon screw us out of our retirement! $600.00@ month from TWA, and 3years at a.a. just won't cut it! Ever wonder way TWA had so many Old timers? That's why!!!!!

Well why didnt you guys vote NO?

You could have shut the doors at TWA 10 years ago and have the extra years under your belt at AA. You would have been better off.

<_< Thomas Paine----You could have voted "No" and turned down the concessions this last time arround too, but didn't!!!!!!! We had just about as much control over that one as you did with this one!

Well I'm from NY. And we voted NO. However If we didnt have MCI, we would not have this contract. The vote only passed by 700 votes, MCI provided the margin.

From what the ex TWA guys here say MCI voted in every concessionary contract that has ever come their way.

So I stand by what I said.

Are you ready for AMFA yet? Or do you want to stay with the TWU, a union thats even worse than your IAM?

To,
BOB OWENS, fix airplanes, local 12 proud, and jimntx,
Thanx for "well wishes" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because this industry has changed so RADICALLY( from the job that we ALL had a love/hate relationship with), THE ONLY THING, (and I repeat) "THE ONLY THING" I will miss, is the "band of REAL union brothers"(and a few sisters that I've encountered along the way). However, thanks to these boards, I'll still feel attatched !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NH/BB's
GO AMFA

ps.
There is one other thing I'll ("kinda") miss(even though he's been gone a while),
Ol' (uncle) Bobby Crandall..

Fortunately(for me), I reside within walking distance of Amtrak's "main line"(BOS-NYC), so every time I see/hear an Acela Express go zippin' by, I think of ol' Uncle Bobby being on Amtraks BOD's

Hey CIO and TWUer, see that, a Ramper is calling me a real unionist but he left you guys out. Why do you suppose that is?

Take care NHBB. If you are ever passing through JFK, get on the phone and give maint a call. I'd like to connect a face to the name.
