How dare you spread blasphemy such as this. Our CEO Dave told us he also needed 6 million of our spare change to help retain our fantastic management team, and we were happy to give it, even though we had to take massive pay cuts and other concessions. I''m glad they made my paycut retroactive to help them pay for bonuses to keep the rest of our award winning management. Heck, we were glad to give up vacation, we wouldn''t want to miss a day here now that we have labor friendly management. We are just lucky to be working at all, look at poor Wolf, Gangwal, and Nagin having to hit the streets with a mere 35 million of taxpayer bailout money that Dave gave them. Poor fellows, thats not much of a retirement considering they put in six long years employing many tax advisors and accountants at company expense to handle there multi million dollar salaries. And besides, look where they took the airline, not many could run it into the ground with such panache. Luckily we are able to pay retention money to help keep the fantastic executives that helped them drag us through the dirt. Where is 60 minutes when you need them.
The most troubling aspect of the retention bonuses is psychological rather than financial. American''s executives presume that unionized pilots, flight attendants, and baggage handlers will work with the same attention to detail and concern for security as they did when their wages and benefits were 25 percent higher. But the unspoken assumption of retention bonuses and benefits for top bosses is that senior managers simply can''t be relied upon to work as hard if their salaries are cut, or if their options are underwater. Isn''t it time we stopped applying the soft bigotry of low expectations to senior executives?
4merresrat,
Uh no,I''m not writing them from work.I''m still able to afford internet access at home.At least until I take my next paycut.BTW,the only people at US Airways who would have access to computers where you could post on an outside internet site are probably in CCY.
No you didn''t "hurt my feelings", but I thought calling names was a "no no'' on these pages however I gues Piney thinks rules don''t pertain to him. And besides even if others use the internet at work doesn''t make it right. As for Mike W I owe him an apology for previous post and questioning his integrity-I do apologize after I thought about it, it was uncalled for Please accept my formal apology. Res Rat
Thanks Mike W. but no explanation nescessary, I was out of line and Im sorry. Sometimes the heat of the moment takes over, but thanks for being big enough to accept my apology!! I look forward to more heated debate! RES RAT
And Piney, as far as windbags are concerned, your last post did have quite a bit of hot air behind it, if I say so myself. And as far as arrogant is concerned, what do you back it up with? I see quite a bit of self importance in your writings-you just got thru with an interview with MONEY MAG, please, we are all SOOO impressed!! I don''t know why the venom behind your post.
4merresrat,
Apology accepted. My guess is you noticed the time stamp and assumed I was at work.First, the time stamp is off by an hour.It was actually 1330.Secondly I work a 4 AM to Noon shift so I was probably home pretty close to 12:30. One thing you''ll notice is that I don''t use a screen name.I sign all of my posts with my name and the job I hold in the IAM.If anyone at Crystal City has a problem with something I post,I''m pretty easy to find. I also won''t post something I wouldn''t say to the person''s face so that takes a lot of the pressure off.
Excuse my ignorance but can you please tell me what CCY stands for,I am clueless. It is amazing to me your assumptions about people-me for one-mid leve management? testosterone?. Im serious please define CCY,if you will because I see it from time to time and I do not know what it means
