Once before I listed daily bookings from the intracompany daily message. In light of the above article, thought I'd update the list. Keep in mind that these are bookings for the day, not passengers boarded. And of course, there is no indication of fares paid.

The numbers are as follows. The letter at the beginning of each line is the day of week, the letter after each bookings number is M=mainline, E=Express.

Unless they'er the only choice and they can take the gamble, why would anyone buy a ticket for future travel on U? If they belly-up, the money's gone and you're without a seat. Would you buy a car warranty from a company in bankruptsy? I think some people may have the mistaken notion that other carriers are obliged to accept a U ticket, that is if there is even a ticket on paper. Airlines take a long time to die, but when they implode, it's pretty sudden because the company officers need to finish hiding the loot and putting on their mornful expressions for the cameras before they start the pax panic.

According to the article, the company argued before the BK court that gouging the employees for $38million/month would reassure the passengers! Does anyone think the passengers give two flips about that. What they want to know is how much does the ticket cost and will the airline be there when I am ready to fly. Current bookings may or may not tell a story. What would truly be interesting to know is how many tickets are being sold for travel 2 or 3 or 4 months from now?

According to a UPI news report on my broker's wire, which I cannot link, David Davis told the bankruptcy court yesterday that advance bookings were down by some unspecified amount over the past thirty days. He went on to say (paraphrase) that if the public perceives the airline is running out of cash there will be even greater incentive to book away.

This statement of Davis' was, I'm guessing, made in an attempt to hurry the judge into approving the emergency wage reductions. I looked through the court dockets for Thursday but couldn't find any docketed declaration of Davis on this topic.

Any anecdotal evidence that it's true?

Why nonrev anymore when you can get from point A point B for less than 150.00? No headaches or stress involved in worrying whether you will get a seat. Why heck, its actually the bus station...people and all.

Well with all the pay cuts airline employees have had or will have had, they couldn't afford the $150. 🙁

There is no Doubt that the Liquidation talk has killed future bookings. The Company has used it to intimidate the Employees, and to rush the Judge to rule in their favor. Too bad the "Brains" at the top didn't stop to think what the impact it would have on bookings. They should have considered that before putting the
Liquidation word out to the press. This is just another example of our lack of qualified leadership. A High School dropout would have more common sense than most of these guys do.
