UYH,

I hope that you're including more than just Doug and the relative handful of VP's in that "management" label. Doug and other senior execs could be the best and best intentioned in the world - I certainly hope so and hear from the West folks that they are. But if mid/lower level management (especially on the East side) continue many of their past practices of CYA and point the finger of blame, the honeymoon will be short indeed.

After all, mid and local management affect the daily work-life and morale of most employees a lot more than words from Tempe.....

Again, spot on.

Doug is great... however our middle management is nothing to be proud of.

Couldn't agree more with Jim either. Middle management affects folks lives on a daily basis.

Dell,

Show me my quote for saying that management DOES NOT have to earn our trust.

They do, but you should give them a chance to do so.

Shark,

That is uncalled for. I do not change my stance, I have been around here a long time and have a record of taking a position and sticking to it.

And I don't make a habit of insulting people as you have done below. Why don't you try debating the issue.

Does management get a chance to earn your trust or do you already condemn them?

I believe he has the fence post stuck where the sun don't shine, for now. Were things to change, he would also, uh, change his "stance", post haste.

He is the person I would send to collect the money, knowing full well he would get killed in the transfer. No regrets.

UYH,

Why, for the love of Mike, do we have to 'trust' management? We at U have been delivering superior service for years in spite of the thieves, buffoons and morons who have been running the place. If Dougie got arrested tomorrow for something heinous I would still do my job. Trust is not all it's cracked-up to be.

Thanks

When I came here I too had doubts, but after 2 years Doug and all of his managers have gained my respect and trust. Let's take Jerry for example. Yes, he was asked to take a pay cut--didn't like it so off he went. Doug is a wonderful CEO and person and he treats his employees as he wants to be treated. You wonder why the HP folks are friendly and helpful--that's what the sign says over our heads. Don't be rude to ANYONE. Employee or customer. Be helpful. Imagine my suprise when I was told--if you can help the pax and make them happy to be flying HP do it. What a change from Just say no!!!

Did I say I trusted anyone yet?

I suggested you give them a chance so that they can earn the rating...good or bad.

Yeah, UYH, using the word 'trust' 3 or 4 in previous posts sort of implies it.

buh bye

To all of the US peoples, "Welcome!". I would just like to point out that Doug Parker is Bill Franke's son-in-law. We all know what Franke did. What do you think they talk about when they sit down to the family dinner on Sunday?

I am an hp guy. I agree that middle mgt. is our biggest problem. But i don't trust "doug" any further than I can spit!

DOUG PARKER IS NOT FRANKIE'S SON IN LAW--STOP SPREADING LIES AND WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS A GREAT AIRLINE

The question should be...

"Will current upper mgt. pull together, as a team for the new US Airways"..?? Not the employee's...!!

See, that's a concern - neither was U's.

Now, back in the day, U had good middle management. After the parade of CEO's, most moved to greener pastures or were shown the door. The rot spread down to line supervisors.

There were a few excpetions, but not the rule.

Hope Doug is a blood descendant of Hercules: There are some stables that need attending!

UYH,

Just curious. Employees have made major sacrifices, including many careers, to keep the airline aloft.

Additionally, they kept U near at the top of the DOT stats.

Sounds like professionals to me.

What else would you have them do?

I am as aware as you are there are bad apples. But to judge the whole by those few would be as inaccurate as judging all Presidents by Bush (or Clinton). Or CEO's by just-call-me-dave.
