Thanks Chuck...All that from the Teamsters for $350 more a year in dues.

BTW...If you do a comparison of the Teamster local presidents and other local reps salaries compared to TWU or AMFA similar sized locals, the salaries are way our of whack. For instance, local 2727 UPS teamster mechanic president makes $165k for 1183 members, while my president larry pike made $11k from the local and his AA salary for 1822 members per the LM2's.

AMFA local 18 has 1048 members, and their local presidents made a combined $13k plus their company salary. I'm guess an election took place so there are two showing.

So the dues are higher and the officers get richer. :angry2:

Looks like even teamster reps are not happy with the teamsters at UAL. This is exactly what you get with the teamsters. Plus you will never get to observe any nego's, so the teamsters can do all the "behind closed doors deals" just like they did here at SWA as well as at Cal. We did try to warn the UAL guys what was comming with the teamsters. We have also been warning the AA guys. Don'y believe us, and you AA'ers will find yourselves in the same shoes as UAL. Sad, very sad...

Everybody but Tulsa and LAX has taken your advice. NOt surprising with Tulsa, because they usually do the opposite of what the rest of the mechanics want to do. Kind of surprising that LAX would do what they are doing, but then again I have heard the rumors of big time job$ for a few organizers who have led the charge out there. So they get theres, and the rest of us get screwed. :angry2:

Sorry TexMech for that post. Just a little puzzled by people signing cards for both just to remove the TWU. What they do not understand is this could cause a "non-representational" result in the end, could it not? I am so sick and tired of the teamsters interferences, their complete lies and false information, just to get a few mechs to sign their cards. I have told and told and told these folks out here that the teamsters/ibt will say anything and everything that the ranks want to hear untill they get the cards signed, then they will laugh all the way to the bank. Promice you the world, then never come thru once they are voted in. Just ask the Horizon mechs and UAL mechs.

Nothing to apologize about, I agree with your statement. The teamsters prey on the weak minded, and so far per the teamsters, half of Tulsa and 90% of LAX actually believe their BS. I always thought that California had a better education system than Texas, but I guess i was wrong. The LAX argument of anything but the TWU reminds of some of the guys in the shop last summer complaining about how they wanted a new contract already, even though the new contract was guranteed to be worse then the contract that we had.

Get this message to the brainwashed fools in Tulsa who still believe that the Teamsters power and Money is all it takes to have a real union. First, you will have to get them to be open minded enough or care enough to listen, then de-program their minds.

I hear what you are saying. The message is a simple one of having control versus being controlled. Teamster fictious power scares no one, but a membership being empowered scares the heck out of everyone. To trade in the abusive spouse (twu) for another abusive spouse (teamsters) doesn't change anything, it just proves that we like abusive spouses. Now, how you go about changing that attitude is another question.

This is exactly why we removed the IBT from SWA.
We like having the AMFA structure and being able to control ourselves.
We were so fed up with the teamsters that we had a record fast card drive that was all grassroots driven by our mechanics.

teamsters would be a bad choice guys. They will be worse than the TWU. If you guys really do want to control your union within the membership, then vote in AMFA. The membership will control nothing if you guys bring in the teamsters. And your local officers will be directed by the international how to run things. Take control of your union for the membership and vote AMFA. The UAL guys are kicking themselves in the arse for bringing in teamsters (see video). Look at how the teamsters screwed the SWA guys as well as the CAL guys (prior to merger with UAL) with all their behind closed door deals, increasing members dues without a vote, trying too steal the pensions at UAL, appointing officers instead of elected, AMFA National officers will not tell you how to run your locals, the members will vote on everything with AMFA, observers at nego's (this is a big reason), not to mention the fact that it's a craft union just for the mechanics with no other outside group within the union, it's mechanic and related only, that's it. No bakers, truckers, berry pickers, bus drivers, railroad workers, package loaders, baggage handlers ect... Mechanics run the union with AMFA for mechanics, simple as that folks. You want true democracy and control within your union VOTE AMFA!!!
