Gross, is the 757s.

Do the math, US flies into 89 mainline cities there is only Utility at 18 on third shift.

Vendors or Ramp do the majority of the RON cleaning and I can tell you they don't clean them like a utility person if the staffing is proper.

And the company eliminated the Scheduled Cleaning Operation (SCO) about every 30 days or so every airplane was to undergo a deep "spring" cleaning, instead they incorporated an area of every airplane is suppose to get a detailed cleaning everynight, with no additional manpower.

The one thing good you can say about Wolf and Gangwal is they cared about how our planes looked, this current regime does not care and the planes are showing it.

Indeed they did - to a degree matched only by CO's Bethune, W&G knew that an airline must provide a CLEAN, safe, and reliable operation above all else - nasty and/or poorly kept airplanes don't persuade folks to fly the airline again, and they da*ned sure don't entice the big-spending full-fare folks to drop several thousand $$$ on a ticket. Whether W&G did a good job on substance is another debate, but they deserve credit on boosting U's image and appearance to the best it ever was (and sadly, may ever be).

Call it how you view it, but we all know the airplanes come out just as bad from maintenance stations where utility are staffed. And that right, where they are staffed corectly also.

You know if there is no accountabilty you will always have problems.

But your blanket answer is ALWAYS to blame the employee instead of investigating the root cause of why it happened.

There is no accountabilty, no more third shift utility foreman, so no one checks the quality of the work. The employee and the lead sign off the work, if the work is not done properly and signed off take action if the situation is warranted.

But once again, it is easier for you to lay blame at the employee then actually find the cause of the problems.

Do you need a foreman to hold the hands of the utility people assigned to do the work? So where else should the blame go? Employee assigned work...work not done. Sounds pretty darn simple to me. All a foreman could do at that point is say "nope, it still dirty". Well, I can save U the price of a foreman.

Just curious... has a "worker" (and by that I am guessing you mean "union member") EVER done anything wrong, anywhere, anytime, that can't be traced to a "management fault?" Ever? Even once?

At some point doesn't an individual worker have to take some responsibility for the work s/he does? Ever?

Hmmm, that's strange. You say that the 757's are "gross". Let's look at the cities where 757's RON:

BWI - 2, FLL - 4, LAS - 2, PHL - 6, BOS - 2, PIT - 1. CLT - 4. PVD - 1,
BDL - 2, MCO - 2, TPA - 1, Redeye Flights - 3. Total 30 airplanes. (excludes heavy check airplanes)

US has 18 stations with RON utility: BOS, CLT, DCA, LAX, LGA, PHL, PIT, SFO, BDL, RIC, TPA, MCO, MIA, PVD, ORD, ATL, BWI and ORF.

So, out of 30 RON airplanes, only 9 are not in a Utility RON station....how is it they are so gross? :blink: 😛h34r:

The number reaches as high as 67 without overtime on a given night, and the 757 B-check is usually done nightly by the line hangar.

And your post implied 19 mechanics for 31 planes.
