This AMR/American Airlines company stock. Whether he uses his 401k in the form of a loan is a choice. Employees were granted shares in a contract negotiation some time ago. Many have exercised these options, but I have not. The strike price is $5.00 a share so for now it is practically worthless. I did put a limit order in at $1.50, so we will see what happens.
