Thanx for "visiting", and the kind words.
What I'm about to say to you, may be taken as ARROGANT/POMPOUS/BOASTFUL/SARCASTIC etc., or ALL of the above !

One DEFINITELY NEEDS to be THICK SKINNED on THIS site !!!!!!!

We are a band of brothers(the regulars) that to a varying degree have a SERIOUS LOVE/HATE relationship w/AMERICAN Airlines.

Most of this stem's from "our DADDY", former CEO..Bob CRANDALL(the smartest, shrewdest S O B that ever roamed corperate hallways. He would try to SCREW us at every turn, when it came to Union contracts(with the help of the "weak sister" union, the TWU, who we paid to represent us)
THEREFORE we HATED CRANDALL/AA.

BUT,

When ANYONE..appeared on the horizon...deemed to be a threat to us(and that INCLUDED the FEDERAL GOVT.), CRANDALL would "lay his life on the line", in a fight to the death, to protect us.(Hence the "we LOVE" AA/job security)

In my opinion(and some will back me up on this) AA will be the very LAST airline to file for BK protection !!!!

Also to consider, is that any of us could write "chapter and verse" on the LUCK/Timing/ or simply the "Horseshoe up our AA$$", that AA has enjoyed these(at least) last 30 years.

We come across(in the eyes of some) of thinking that we're BETTER than other carriers. In a reality that is hard to prove sometimes, we don't think we're better,.....Just Smarter,...and VERY TOUGH.

What can I say. It comes from our(AA) NY DNA !!!!

American Airlines was NOT born in Dallas Texas !!!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words but no need to be mean to FA Mikey. He was simply making a sarcastic comment about a series of recently-deleted posts from a long-time flamebaiter (a FA at UA) who has insisted for a couple of years now in repeated postings that AA's large fleet of MD-80s will quickly send AA to a Chapter 11 filing. I'm pretty certain that FA Mikey has no desire to see Delta file another Ch 11 petition - his comment amounted to an inside joke to those of us who have endured the above-mentioned flame-baiting.

So nice to hear from you. I have friends who work at AA in DFW which is where I started my career with Delta. I remember Bob Crandall very well as a fierce competitor. I used to say, Delta views competition as something that makes our airline healthier but Bob Crandall views competition as a threat which should be annihilated. I understand the love/hate relationship with management and believe me, I don't believe everything our management tells us. I am on the chit list of the highest person in our Tech. Ops. division...that is said with pride however. I have an ability to read through the colorfully worded BS in our meetings and have educated others on things said in meetings which could have an abstract meaning (ie, salary, pay...total compensation package). I didn't know that AA started in NY so I have learned something today which I try to learn something new every day.
Nice to meet you and I will visit from time to time to read and learn.
