Amfa Local 11 Sets Up Office

Bob, the average TWU member is employed. The average AMFA member is not. There lies the difference.
The average A+P can go anywhere and make $15.00 a hour. What's your point? I can go work on Fords and make $15 an hour and not have to worry about the FAA and the liabilities associated with the profession. Are you saying the twu makes it easy to leave the profession or not come into it at all??
I'd have to agree............
Here's to the twu.....
Our goal........$15.00 an hour Mechanics.........
Cheers......

Wrong again! Your numbers keep getting more and more inaccurate. Now you are claiming that there are more members of AMFA that are laid off than there are working? Sure UAL may have had massive paycuts-put inn place while the IAM was there and NWA took deep cuts too but neither one is over 50% and SWA hasnt laid off any mechanics. And all of these guys make much more than us and still get 10 holidays, at least two weeks vacation, doubletime and other benifits that are standard in most union shops. Our 'shop' is more like a non-union shop, the only difference is that we pay dues.

CIO, if you want to make a comparasion between the average laid off AMFA member then we have to look at the long term, or at least the term of the current agreement. We have been told that he company has revealed that as people retire they will not be replacing them, so our laid off workers will never be coming back. NWA and UAL have been recalling mechanics and recent rulings and pending grievances are likely to bring even more mechanics back to work. Those mechanics who return, even if they came back with no back pay are still financially better off than our guys who gave the biggest concessions of any union in history without a fight. They will in the long run make much much more than we will during the term of this contract. In fact compared to those workers we are working two years for free.
