Honest Question..........It is nice, to be prepared, getting the local ready if AMFA would win, if they petition for election, but, If AMFA should fail? what will happen to the local offices?
And another honest question, If AMFA does fail to have enough cards or votes if Petitioned, Will this be the last time we see a drive for AMFA? or are we going to go thru this every year or every other year until AMFA wins?

MCI, Happy Valentine's Day to you too. As for the question about AMFA not winning at AA I would like to say that is not even remote possibility. However, for arguments sake if AMFA should lose I believe that our profession will be injured in a very negative way. The twu will continue their sell out ways and more of the responsibilities of the AMT will be given to the ramp. The ramp will then over time be contracted out, like the cabin cleaners recently, and AA will get their cake and eat it too.

Happy Valetines Day to you, after all this drive is all about love, and tough love is better than no love.


A little history on the drive, it was started 42 years ago and has gone through many organizing changes. The present committee was established in September of 1998 with the understanding that drive is not over until the twu is gone. As you now see, this started before the merger, before the concessions and on and on. There will be no peace for me personally until the twu is gone. We have all tried the change within, change without, change anything, grassroots, separate locals, restructure, separate contracts, etc. We have only one choice left, and many of us have devoted ourselves to making that choice happen.

As far as the local/campaign buildings, they are leased, the membership upon winning will decide the location and buying vs. leasing of the real locals. This along with the election of officers after the vote.

Lets not forget it is "WHEN" not "IF" AMFA becomes our bargaing agent at AA. If the AMFA election is lost we still have time for one, maybe two more attempts before our next contract negotiations at AA. Everyone realizes that it has to be now so we can start building our bankroll. The longer we wait, the less we'll have in our locals come negotiation time. You know it's going to be a lengthy negotiation because of the 50+ years we have to catch up for. As far as AMFA National helping out, that is what they do! They have a budgeted amount to help with organizing. They expect after AMFA wins at AA that everyone else will follow quickly. I agree also. I believe Fed-Ex, Continetal, and of course American Eagle will be right behind us. AMFA is coming to AA, there's nothing anyone can do about it now!!

Who said anything about a secretary or pay. You see, unlike the twu, AMFA supporters at AA are willing and able to work the drive for free, including the office duty. Looks like Randy needs $143,000 to work in his office.
