American Airlines - by Rob Smythe

8 April 2004

On a crowded American Airlines flight from LA to Toronto March 20, for over an hour the flight attendants would not let my eight year old niece get past their cart to use the washroom at the back. Three times she went to the front to see if she could use the first class washroom, explaining that she couldn't get to the back, and was denied. Only when the little girl was in full tears, clearly in distress, did the flight attendant let her use the washroom.

I'm aghast! I would have completely understood had the kid pissesd on the floor and left it for those uncooperative flight attendants to clean up!

lol, LA to Toronto....hmmmmm. I don't think they would of had to clean it up on that flight, lol.

Question. While searching for these horror stories, do you ever happen to see a good/happy story?

ORAre you the same Wing and a Prayer that I had to point out that you skipped the good ones when you posted the negative stories from the other traveler satifaction website?

Really no need to answer. I already know you are that someone! <_< ;)

Instead of attacking the poster, how about explaining the reason you seem to feel the FAs attitude was justified.

I apologize for the lack of concern on behalf of that crew. Remember there are close to 20,000 of us at AA, not all act this way.

OK <_<

Probably the Flight Attendants were following some rule that had to do with coach passengers heading toward the flight deck. Don't really know if that was the case but...maybe.
Before anyone says anything about the age....Think Israel.

PS. I reread the post and it said nothing about the flight attendants ATTITUDE.

I think "no, I will not permit you to pass the drink cart" is an attitude, not a security rule. But I'd happy to be convinced otherwise.

I think this story is a complete fabrication. No flight attendant I ever worked with at American Airlines has had an attitude or would be so cruel or heartless. We all know how easy it is to move the cart back to the galley to allow access to the back lavs. The F/A's I have worked with have had nothing but class and been true professionals. No...this has to be the childs fault in some way.

The child's fault?? Thanks for making my point. The kid should have just pissed on the floor and told the snotty flight attendant to clean it up!

Geez, it's called sarcasm...If you looked at my name you would realize that I've never actually flown with a bonified, "real" AA crew...i'm one of the step children.

I call it wit....hey I was complimenting every AA f/a I've ever worked with! Gee, I was trying to be nice!
I completely understood you were going for the cheap laugh, so excuse the rest of us while we drag out your agony!

This is just par for the course from Wing N A Prayer. We all know that he/she is just has an axe to grind with AA, as a former employee.

Take a look at his/her posts on FlyerTalk

This was just one more chance for TW1 to take another stab at his/her more senior co-workers. The f/a's in question were most likely wrong but again don't judge all of us by just a few.

Before passing judgment on anyone involved, the child or the F/As, it would be better to let someone hear all sides of the story. If this gets to AA, I'm sure they will investigate. That is their job. Let them do what they are hired to do. We do not know enough to pass judgment.
