made some mistakes and got a few dui's. That's bad, no doubt but I don't believe any employee would be fired for a dui.
That statement makes me question if you are a pilot, but maybe you have never seen a guy get popped by the rules. One DUI and you would probably be ok with a bunch of hoop jumping for the FAA. It would cost you a pile money but you would probably keep your certificates. Two or three DUI's and your medical is gone, and so is your airline pilot job.
FAR part 61.15 deals specifically with DUI situations. More than one in a 3 year period will initiate certificate action. However the FAA has been known to initiate action and pull a pilots medical after one DUI. I know of one case of a retired military pilot that had 2 spread over a 16 year period, and they still pulled his medical due to "cronic chemical dependancy" or some similar language.
So as a hypothetical situation someone with 3 DUI's would not be allowed to fly for an airline.
