American Needs US Air Merger: Analyst

It would get rid of the USAviation.com "USAirways" message board threads.

A worthwhile purpose, IMHO.

LOL!!! Don't you think it would just create an "East/West" divide on the Delta threads?

For the sake of all of you fine US employees, I really wish that Doug and Scott would stop jonesing for a merger. It must be very unsettling to think that the management's number one priority is merging US. As my grandmother would say, "It's not becoming."

I totally agree, the US employees are the ones who got affected... but merging is the only business related activity that these spreadsheet jockeys seem to know how to do. That's the sad part... and they haven't even finished the merger they were able to pull off.

It seems to me as though Kirby has found a clever short term stimulus to LCC's Wall Street resurgence. Keep talking merger and the stock price keeps rising.

Try projected profits of $621 million in 2010 and 2011

Maybe so, but what is it doing to the morale of US employees? There are 30K+ employees on US's payroll who must be taking notice of the fact that their management is very publicly making an eventual merger part of the long-term goal.

Running a solid operation seems to be the more logical path to increasing the stock price, and thereby satiating Wall Street's appetite. And it sure would go a lot farther in making US employees feel more secure about their long-term employment prospects.

US needs a vision, not a merger.

To me this sounds like what I call "dolly-ing the books" or making your bad company look good! Since US is the 'ugly' girl they have to look at the positive. Since there aren't any they have to lie! By doing this, there might be a merger if a gullible dummy is found. So who is dumber than US Trailways???

Read comments in article, btw! :D

I was just wondering if AA and US do end up merging. And honestly at first I persnally did not like the idea
but its beginning to look more and more like it will come to past wether I like it or not.
Well with that said. I wonder how the combine airline would look like? Would JFK survive as a "mini" hub for the
combine airline? Or would AA give up on JFK and shift it all to Philadelphia? Would all the east cost bases
of the combine network survive the merger?
I was also wondering why US doesn't leave the Star alliance? I think they are a better fit for Oneworld
and then pave the road to a full merger.
Good luck to all the US/AA employees. Buckle your seat belt its going to be a hell of a bumpy ride.
One more thing for those US employees that are worry about merging with AA because of seniority
issues do not worry. What happened to TWA employees will never happen again. There will be
a "fair and equitable" integrations of the seniority list. and that is law.
Good luck to all.

I'm a US employee. Doesn't affect my morale a bit. Not receiving a paycheck will.
