The TWU is for you!!!
They can do that, brother!!!
We'll get 'em next time!!!

The TWU is great at T-shirts with slogans, protesting with props, and manipulating Government Agencies to prevent membership choice of representation. Now the TWU produces an emotional charged video that shows management stealing the booty.

The fact still remains the TWU has 25+ years of dismal performance repesenting the memership at the bargaining table. We are now over 12 months past amendable date to the concession agreement.

Are we really going to continue to allow ourselves to be sidetracked by protest and videos against management?

What about the TWU and the failures they represent?

Management is expected to be dishonest and not in our favor at the bargaining table. This is why we pay union dues and have representation to begin with.

I say we protest our ATD Office, and make a video that shows the truth regarding the TWU worthless leadership and representation.

Informer, Why you would want to waste your time with a rally at the ATD Office, you apparently haven't been reading your TA's or open proposed articles. You and I don't meet the fold when it comes to those of interest. Our best bet is to vote "Hell No", if and when they ever come to terms with a TA for us to consider. I see this round of negotiations as the "Great Divide".

A lot of people attended this rally, but, TWU informer, Their attendance had no meaning whatsoever.

It would be far better for me to be a big defender of the TWU, who by the way successfully argued in Federal Court that you the member are not even guaranteed that "hell no" vote on a TWU negotiated Labor Agreement.

Besides if you look at the history of "side letters of agreement" does it really matter what the T/A's or Open Proposed Articles content are? TWU negotiations continue daily and without membership ratification so why waste your time reading or voting hell no on where we are today?

You are correct on our difference of interest, because you still trust and support the TWU, and I see the worthless union for what it really is.

My, oh my. Getting off the topic are we?

Where do I say anything about the twu in my post?

I said, "Great video". Sure the twu is in the video but that is the union on the property.

Yes, the twu did not allow us to vote and never thought about snap-backs.

The video is proof that we should never remember what happened to us all. Emotional video with a cool song? Yes, but so what. Greed started this mess and greed continues to rule in upper management. But I would prefer to fight and be heard regardless of those who allow others to fight for them.

Did the rally prevent GREED from happening again? No, Jeff Brundage spoke to the media with some lame empty words trying to deflect corporate GREED. But at least I was out there, with many other employees with more energy than it takes to simply sit at a keyboard.

Ken I am surprised!

I figured standing outside screaming, yelling, and buring mock checks would not exactly be the type of professionalism you seem to promote and stand for.

I was nearly as embarrassed about this stunt as I was when the TWU brought the Coffin on a trailer to the Brady Theater.

Getting elected to office within the TWU has changed many folks' judgement and integrity.

Sorry just my opinion.

I inquired about whether snap backs were discussed back in 03. I was told that snap backs would've killed any deal for bankruptcy avoidance with management. If all that is true at least the TWU was not the only union to agree to such nonsense.

NEVER forget the Shared Sacrifice we made to ensure corpoarte greed.

I agree, it's a great video, set to a classic song

Too bad its producers couldn't keep it accurate. On slide #3, it's alleged that the three unions (APA, TWU and APFA) were forced to give concessions worth $1.8 billion annually. That's false.

The total concessions were $1.8 billion, but that included $180 million given up by agents, management and support staff, none of which is represented.

The total concessions imposed on the three represented groups were $1.62 billion annually, not $1.8 billion.

You what they say: Figures Lie and Liars Figure. Management lies and the TWU local 565 lies. Hard to tell them apart sometimes. Play fast and loose with the truth and somebody's bound to notice.

When are you guys going to dump the liars at the TWU so you only have to deal with one set of liars (management liars)?

In regard to the video, it simply reminds me of how convinced I remain that a well thought out and sinister plan to exact permanent concessions was carried out, with precision, on all three unions. Carty would simply fall on his sword with assurance he would be well compensated. All I can say now is, WE BEEN HAD!

Well if you are going to quibble over the numbers then we have to bring up the fact that the company said "concessions for jobs", they took the concessions then they took even more of that dollar value in jobs. We lost 25% of our compensation then watched as our headcount was reduced by 35%. So the $1.8 billion is'nt a lie, its an understatement.

- snip -

And never forget that the TWU was too (text excised) stupid to insist on a "shared sacrifice" agreement with management that could be verified and court-enforced.

After all, that's why the sheep have to wear those idiotic "show me the shared sacrifice" t-shirts, now isn't it?

The march was what it was. I was there. Did it do any good, No. What some are missing here is it doesn't matter at this point what the name of the union is that represents us, AMFA, TWU, IAM. The problem is no matter what union is here we all have our own agendas. We have no unity. We can't get a group of 35 together let alone 12000+.
