MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE
February 3, 2004
This is Jack Stephan with a US Airways MEC update for Tuesday, February 3rd, with one new item.
The MEC reconvened its special MEC meeting today at the Crystal City Marriott in Arlington, Va. and has taken actions because of serious concerns that have come to the attention of the MEC regarding RJ/SJ financing and other financial issues faced by the company. The agenda items that were processed by the MEC today are posted in their entirety at usairwayspilots.org.
Issues addressed in the two resolutions include:
For AI 04-05 (Settlement of Small Jet Issues)
EMB 170 delivery issues and rates of pay
Withdrawal of grievances 03-08-04(EMB Pay Rates) and 03-12-10(Violation of LOA 84 and Health and Welfare Benefits for EMB Pilots) contingent upon
a) EMB-170 to be paid at AMR Eagle 70-seat rate
B) Health insurance provided immediately upon employment
c) Participation in a matching 401k program effective upon employment
d) Training Pay and training accommodations
e) Successful conclusion of all open issues related to MDA
For AI 04-06 (Company Request for Scope Clause Modifications Regarding Small Jets)
Evaluate the need for modifications to relevant contractual sections
Appropriate returns to possible contract modifications to the small jet provisions
We anticipate that negotiations will begin shortly on the above agenda items. As always, any developments will be provided on the code a phone and pilots only website.
The MEC also passed a resolution that reduces the cobra assessment for US Airways pilots at the Embraer Division who are currently paying $30 for captains and $20 for first officers to rates of $8 for captains and $6 for first officers.
The meeting adjourned at 5:02 p.m.
