If we're going to play airline necromancy, I'd suggest Pan Am.

Pan Am Airways is still an active corporation. You see box cars in the north east painted like that plane. It is now a railroad.

The DL route network after the NW merger looks rather that of Pan Am its heyday. If I were King of the airline world I would buy the PA name and logo from that silly little railroad, rename DL"Pan Am" and see that blue ball all over world again.

Those of interested knowing how important the carrier once was, serving almost as an arm of the US State Dept should look for "The Chosen Instrument by Marilyn Bender. (It has been years since I read it, but it's fascinating)
