AA's London townhouse going, going, gone?

Don't forget AMR also has an apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and a hotel in Caracas. This just gets better!

I gotta say the real estate thing does not bother me that much. I have always said that prior to concessions, I did not care what any executive earned or anyone else for that matter. Maybe at the time all these properties were purchased, since then the company has simply not paid for 4 and 5 star hotels. Who knows.

Staying at a top hotel is over-rated. 10000 count sheets, room service and the nightly turn-down service with a chocolate on top of the pillow is no comparison to being able to grab a snack from the fridge at midnight.

When you're talking about executives, there's also a higher degree of need for confidentiality.

At the most basic level, you should be able to have a phone call at any hour of the day or night without worrying about who is listening in the next room thru paper thin walls. You should be able to not worry if the hotel staff (or someone who has bribed the hotel staff) is looking thru your stuff while you're out.

I agree.. I feel that if they bought these properties where this is enough steady occupancy by executives to actually offset hotel costs,,,then no big deal.
