AA buys LHR slot for $31 million from Cyprus Airways

No, DL has served LHR on a daily basis for several years.

I'm not sure what season AA would serve BOS-LHR in but there is no AA metal in the market today which by most definitions would be considered high season.

You absolutely know he/she wasn't talking about Delta. You are unfriggin amazing! Every. Damn. Chance. You. Get! Unbelievable. And yes, AA isn't on BOS/LHR. Only BA.

and DL and Virgin.

You somehow missed that some smart 789s decided to bring DL into the conversation. I didn't.

I hear DL is preparing to file a lawsuit as to why they missed this one!
Maybe it's to chase DL off LAX-LHR
you people are your worst enemies and give me all the reason I need to keep showing up to crash your party.

And AA has one gateway and flight from the west coast to LHR on its own metal vs. 2 for DL and UA, right?

what is AA actually going to do with a slot that is best time for service from the west coast or at least the western US?

Delta hasn't been flying LHR for years. But years to one person may not be to another. AA at LHR early 90's to LHR and Delta?

even two full years would mean more than 730 days. DL began service to LHR in 2007.
No, DL began service to LHR in March, 2008, probably on March 30, the date the Open Skies agreement became effective, replacing Bermuda II, which limited LHR access to AA, UA, BA and VS.

Is it far fetched to say that we may see PHX getting this slot ?

There was a thread on this topic from August of 2012.  The following is from the article posted by the OP:

If anything, Kirby said, Phoenix could gain international flights. The combined airline would like to immediately fly between Phoenix and London, a route currently served only by British Airways. US Airways does not have the right planes or London airport slots for the service, but American brings both to the table, he said.

AA 24 years VS 7.

in either case easily satisfying the requirement to say that DL has served LHR for years.

and it is also true that AA has not served BOS-LHR with its own metal in YEARS and has but one gateway to LHR from the US west coast on its own metal.

any quibbles with that?

AA served BOS-LHR up until October of 2012.

Dont let the facts get in your way.

so at least 1 1/2 YEARS since they have been there? and they don't serve the route now, right?

and this slot is not terribly well suited for BOS-LHR.

In a metal-neutral JV, why does it matter who operates the route?

Operationally and slot-wise, it probably matters, but certainly not for a marketing or revenue standpoint.
