well for starters fleet here is IAM CO is not union on fleet I dont know about other work groups the thieving IAM would scream bloody murder

I count a few destinations that AA doesn't currently serve and they are way up there in the who gives a crap list...
-Glaskow
-Shannon
-Venice
-Munich
-Athens
-Lisbon

There is only one that I don't understand why AA doesn't serve and that's Amsterdam. That's pretty much it. Should we start counting all the destinations in the Pacific and Latin American US can't even dream of serving?

Sure.

American has 3+ Destinations in Asia.

 Nice to see American coming to El Prat though in April.

US is gonna be like the last kid picked for a game on the playground, I dont think anyone wants to merge with US.

I wonder what AA will do? They are kind of stuck they could either A. Sit there and do nothing B. Go Cry to Congress to get ATI Approval with BA C. Try to spilt up UA with CO D. This one could be surprising but possibly make there own hostile bid for NW. With US, well I won't go into that seepage pool.

or in a surprising move...US buys Mesa out and thinks they're consolidating the industry by screwing UA over on Express flights only to find out Republic screws US over and takes em 175s to ContiUnitedal

I think that if any of these mergers take place it is going to be awesome for US. Think about it, look how hard the US/HP merger was... And this merger happened when the economy was growing. If US focuses on bringing stability and value to their own product, they can be there to pick off the frustrated NW/DL customers. US made it post merger, as a profitable airline, with its own share of problems. US was lucky to be merging during good times. believe me, this merger is going to be expensive, and full of labor problems. US has a head start...

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Tempe is clueless. Those other companies, although there will be hurdles, know how to respond to customers. By way of example, below is an email I received from AA last week. Do you think US would ever send something like this? Forget it. Those arrogant jerks are too busy figuring out how to screw the employees and customers.

April 11, 2008

Dear US1YFARE,
As one of our most valued customers, please accept my apology on behalf of American Airlines® to you, your family and your fellow AAdvantage® customers for disrupting so many peoples' lives with the recent flight cancellations related to the inspection of our MD-80 aircraft fleet.

As you can imagine, American's decision to cancel thousands of flights this week was difficult, and it undoubtedly created concern among our best customers – even those who had no travel plans during the period.

If in your travels you were among the many who have been personally affected, I sincerely regret the inconvenience you have experienced. Our employees will continue to work around the clock to accommodate all who still need to reach their desired destinations. We anticipate returning to a full schedule by Monday.

While the media reports have documented the reasons why American took this action and the steps we're taking to re-accommodate and compensate affected customers, I've also attached an explanation of the events for your understanding. It's a bit complex, but at the end of it all, please know this:

First, your safety and the safety of our employees remains our number one priority.

Second, we will learn from this experience, and we will get better.

Finally, we wholeheartedly appreciate your loyalty to American Airlines, and we remain committed to earning your business each and every day.

Respectfully,

Dan Garton
Executive Vice President
Marketing

P.S. You may have already contacted us via AA.com® or by writing directly to Customer Relations. Let me reassure you that we will respond directly to your contact just as quickly as practical.

There certianly is a school of though that if all the big boys are bogged down in Mergers for 3+ years and US coul reap the spoils so to speak.
There certianly will be some reduced flying and we could benefit by doing nothing.

Read the articles...US isn't even mentioned by name. They all say, AA may pick up a small carrier...US is lumped into the nothings.

And although I am certain there will be bumps in the road for the others, they aren't as inept as Tempe. Tempe is a joke when it comes to running an airline. Did you notice how professional the announcements were by DL and NW. You can tell that everything was well thought out even from the color selection on that new website. Tempe only knows how to swooshify everything.

No doubt. I'm saying IF Tempe gets it right... IF Tempe gets it right, I think that the mergers could be a good thing for the US employees. It isn't a good time for companies to try to reorganize. This economy is a complete disaster and it is going to get worse.

I just don't see how US can hold it's against merged carriers that are two to three times it's size. I know size isn't everything. ;) But it's becoming more obvious with each airline filing BK that it's not a great time to be a little fish in the pond.
