Regardless of your feelings towards one union or the other, based on the past track record of both the T.W.U. and the A.M.F.A. which would you prefer to go into negotiations next?

Since Amfa has yet to settle a contract without a mediator in the last 10 years. And allows very poor language, it's a no brainier. But hey! Fools are born every day!

CIO not only gauges union success by the number of dues payers.

He also thinks it is wise to avoid mediation by being a company union and taking the companies "final offer" or worse yet, the first offer.

Anyone with knowledge of the Railway Labor Act knows that if you did not take your negotiations to mediation and/or strike/PEB then you by far settled for less than what was available.

Is this the kind of weak and timid negotiator/leadersip you want? One that will reduce pay and benefits to increase membership size, and think taking a stand under the Railway Labor Act and reaching mediation is a bad thing.

Hey CIO, AMFA could settle ALL current negotiations if they would walk in with the TWU Concession Package as the next offer. Any airline would settle early and often for 17.5% pay reductions, paid time off reductions, unrestricted increases in medical payroll deductions, and the ability to lay-off 3500 mechanics without invoking force majeure.

Are you really this foolish and ignorant, or do you just pretend?

Tell us CIO, what is the negative to going to mediation under the Railway Labor Act?

Even though I voted for AMFA to negotiate our next contract, I think we all know that the EVILTWU will be "negotiating" again for us in early 2005. Why don't we just give away everything right now? Let's give AA even more than USAIR mechanic's are giving up or better yet let's work for free for five(5) years  . This will wipe out the whole airline industry and AA will be the only one left standing  . We might even wipe out the child slave prison labor aircraft maintenance providers  !

For those of you who are not acquainted with the TWU's John Richards, he is an organizer that has spent many months with the TWU International. I believe he also spent some with TWU functions at AAEagle.

When he was given a copy of the latest proposal for USAir, I asked him if he had been negotiating there also. He replied yes, but I think he was just caught off guard. I then said is that a copy of a TWU proposal and he stated it was worse. I asked "How could that be"? He quit smiling....

Well by God at least they will not be needing an evil "mediator"!

Who needs mediation when you have Industry Leading Concessions of the TWU?

If you cant see the difference between extending a contract, getting your members $10/hr over what the same workers at the largest airline in the world get and opening a three year contract early to gut it of pay, benifits and protections then you are totally out of touch.

And how about a new car in each garage? Simply put, even for you biggun', you, and other AMFA supporters/AMFA members continually use the excuse.."we live under the inherited contract...woe is us"...and now that they extend the pinko commie contract of the industrialist devils you find merit in this. You speak out of both sides of your gut...HAHAHA!!!

All NWA IAM members are back to work! It seems the only real "Iron Clad" language AMFA got us is called "Force Majeure". Funny, everyone else is back to work for the other unions, but AMFA has half its members laid off and is warning us of more to come! It's plain to me, AMFA lied to us about their ability to represent us.

No matter how you try to spin it that 3 year exstended contract is far better than the current twu contract at AA.
If it is a " pinko commie contract of the industrialist devils " then what the hell do you call the POS we are working under.
You my friend are a blabbering idiot. :p

If the company offered .50hr and two holidays for a 3 year extension on this twu abomination of a contract, your twu "friends" in Tulsa would buy it. The twu has sold concessions since 1983, no bankruptcy needed. The company has Do-little to instill the "AA would have gone right into Chapter 7 liquidation" fear tactics and the twu followers in Tulsa go into a redneck hissy fit, stepping over each other to sign "yes" on the dotted line.

You continue to ignore/deny the fact that the twu/iam started this farmout and concession ball rolling, not AMFA. This the reason the iam only represents one major, US Air, and they are out of the AMT game. The same for the twu, AA and AE is the last stand for the concession and sellout kings, and they are finished.

SWA mechanics were probably smart to take the extension for highest pay and the best benifits in the industry. Negotiating a new contract at this time for the AMT at any airline is very difficult, with all the majors seeking what the twu has set as the lowest industry standard for concessions in aviation history for the AMT.

Dippy, tell me the twu followers like yourself would not accept what SWA has at this time, and I will laugh in your face and call you liar, if your will ever come out from behind your cowardly alias. In Tulsa, after the huge raise negotiated by AMFA at NWA, the twu rednecks were lined up out the door at the AA Credit Union buying new dually's and bass boats like they just won the lottery. Now the number of Tulsa bankruptcies is staggering, record numbers.

The twu rednecks at the 514 Kremlin would sell their own mother for a dollar, just like they sold you TWA boys, and you still love them. Amazing.

One thing is for sure of your statement, the TWAers were sold down the river all right.

I believe the point Dripster was making was that the AMFA continually uses the stance of "we inherited the POS contract", and now they had extended it. Wether there was merit or not does not change the fact that AMFA is also changing with time. Remember "NO CONCESSIONS" was changed to " NO UNWARRANTED CONCESSIONS".

I'll give you a few years and see where AMFA is, I'll lay good money you'll be just as dissatisfied with AMFA, if not more. You will begin turning brother against brother, since afterall, the democratic stance of AMFA allows nothing less.
