Seems the manager of stores who makes over $100,000 a year had decided to store a spare 767 rudder outside instead of in one of the warehouses.

Another airline wanted to lease the rudder from US, they went outside and opened up the box, after four years of being outside, it was molding and mildewed and delaminated, so the rudder was not usable.

It had to be repaired by our composite shop. So US lost revenue from not being able to lease it to another airlines as it was unservicable.

And nothing one was done to the manager of stores. Now if a regular rank and file employee damaged a rudder they would be in major trouble, but I guess since you are management it is ok to ruin a $650,000 part.

Was this management type one of those who are so valuable that they are given Merit Raises so they won't go over to the competition?

LOL! How do you know the MANAGER of stores makes over $100,000 a year!! I don't know of any MANAGERS making that here! Directors, yes, managers, no.

I think if management truly wants to fix this place they need to look in the mirror first.

He is the manager of the largest distribution center in the system.

funny how stories are molded (no punn here) to fit ones needs. This is only a portion if at all the story. Im assuming this is your facts 700 since we are to assume the "management type" single handed put the rudder there and told no one and simply forgot about it? Its constant on here , youre doing no one any favors by constantly being negative about anything but your own misgivings . I think instead of just management looking in the mirror, we all need to look in the mirror and concentrate on our own faults. Maybe then we might be able to accomplish something good here. Yeah right, what a waste of energy .

How would you know any of the stories related to other depts. and job classifications?? You are in denial!! You are the one who needs to look in the mirror and concentrate on your faults. Because there obvious with most of your ambiguous posts.

700 Union Worker is just a DELETED for the Unions. All he offers is negativity and criticism.

Most people just ignore his shrewd comments.

Lets see, a $650,000 rudder damaged and not having jacks to work on an airbus is fact, I am not hack for the union, I work 40 hours a week just like the rest of my coworkers, and if you choose to insult then I am proud to be a trade unionist.
dave talks about concessions, well let them hold their management accountable for throwing away money and losing revenue and making them do business smart and US would not be in the shape they are!
Those are facts.

Wouldn't this be another reason to outsource? Maybe if someone took the initiative to follow up on that "box" sitting outside, it would have "saved" the company $650K. Then again, from 700UWs perspective, its probably "not my job".

it is not the workers job to decide to leave a rudder in its crate outside, it is management, maybe you need to find these things out before you try and attack a worker. US does not have a truck long enough to move it, so it would have to be moved by a vendor to the warehouse, so the MANAGER decided to leave it outside, not the workers.

I have seen plenty of "union" people follow up on things, only to be told by management that "its not your job".

Most workers ideas over the past 15 years given to all of our management have fallen on deaf ears. Its like thousands of small companys working within one big company with each dept. trying to make their dept look better on paper to save themselves. Which creates the final outcome of destroying the company. Its not the workers, union or not! Its the people making the worthless desicions, IT'S MANAGEMENT!! This company is not worthy of the great employees it has. Thats why it will be full pay until the last day and when the ship sinks we're taken the RATS with us, stock options and all. :p
