does happen? Just for grins if NWA, DAL, CAl, UAL & US formed some mega 2 or 3 airline group what would LUV do?
If clear skies ever gets anywhere and the world markets are open what does LUV do? Will they stay content to be themselves?

I would hate to say it but if somebody made an offer Herb couldn't refuse, well I think the only smart thing would be to take it. Why not if someone has that kind of money to buy WN out it would be an extremely huge transaction...

I think with the Credit that WN has they could offer to buy Delta without finacial backers at the price Parker's offering. Why not just up it a billion and see what he or they do then?

Gary are you listening?

Southwest has a poison pill awarding stock at a low price in case of a hostile takeover. Herb and many others at the top have a lot of pride in SWA--too much to sell SWA out for money.

I think the another tack is possible, a purchase/takeover of AirTran.
(I know they're not in play, but neither was Delta)
If Delta is going to combine with an airline we already play with in so many other cities.....

Positive: 737 aircraft and delivery positions, ATL operation
Negative: Squawking about fortress hub at MDW (AirTran second largest tenant), 717 a/c (I personally love riding this a/c inter-Island on Hawaiian), cities paying for service unsupportable by passenger counts

Just an idea, but fun to think about.

I was looking at this only as LUV being the buyer not the buyie. Ny question is would they buy a hib and spoke legacy and would the fly world wide?
