WN decision will not slow down Aeroman

You sir are 100% spot on. Corporate America runs this country, and we know what bad word that is, lol. We need to have some industries re-regulated like they used to be, ie: banking, energy, to name two.

Free Market: Privatize profits, socialize losses.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

President Eisenhower was prophetic in his statement.

Getting back on point. IMHO The oversight should be even tighter with all carriers including WN if they choose outsource out of our country in the future. Our goverment needs to take some of the profiteering allure out of flying south for repairs.

Not going to happen with this administration. Go Nader!

"We haven't seen any slowdown of future clients into El Salvador. They have to reduce costs and (with Aeroman) they're not reducing quality with the cost," he said. While ACTS won't disclose salaries, news media reports have said an entry-level mechanic at Aeroman earns about $4,500 a year[/i]

The above quote basically sums up the issue with outsourcing to S. America. I don't care how you spin it. You have a few Licensed (suckers) that sign off all the work that is done by God knows who? How can the oversee every task that they are signing for simultaneously? News flash....they CAN'T.
All Boeing Maintenance Manuals are written in English, not Spanish, Latino, or whatever. Anyone that tells you quality is not sacrificed with cheap labor is a big fat LIAR! Period. All the airlines want to do is run down the wages of the skilled and experienced mechanics  .
I witnessed this head in the sand mentality during my 17+ year career in maintenance with U-S Airways. It was one of the reasons I left the industry. I wanted no part in the eventual outcome of this trend of going to the lowest bidder. If you think low cost maintenance is proportional to the level of quality, then you need to have your head examined <_<

Keep it in America

You think this only applies to Aeroman?? We have chop shops right here in the USA...Go down to MAE in Mobile ALA...They have an abondance of employees from every corner of the globe..I have heard fromer lead mechanics from there who were the only ones on the crew who had an A@P and the rest of his crew could not speak english..MAE contracts people to recruit imports from other countries who have to pay their way to work here and are vitrtual slaves to the people who brought them here.. We don't have to go to central america we can go right her to the gulf coast of Alabama to find exploitation.

Lineguy43,

You are absolutely right about MAE. I just didn't want to drag them into the AEROMAN thread. But since you mentioned it, MAE has over 1600 employees and only about 550 are certificated. U-S was sending planes there and probably still does. The first plane thru there had repeated flap problems that caused some hot landings. Talk about learn as you earn. How about JetBlue and their cocked NLG landing? I think that was brought to you by AEROMAN (?)

My advice to anyone that is able to, is get the heck out of the airlines at your first opportunity. There is life outside of aviation.....with a lot less stress. Best wishes to those brave enough to stay.
