WN buys DCA slots from NK - NEW service STL DCA effective Sept 6th

Ok, I guess that just shows how out of touch my airline is with reality.

Not really. They'll probably offer some low fares to compete with WN but still have the nose-bleed fares for those that want FC, AA miles, or just have to pay to get there no matter what it costs. US did the same when WN first entered and then pulled out of BOS area - PHL. They matched the fare when WN came in but started charging $500 each way (for a flight less than 200 miles) after WN pulled out.

Anyone want to bet that they operate DAL-STL-DCA?

Anyone else want to bet that they drop STL and operate DAL-DCA starting in 2014?...

AA's pricing the STL nonstop to DCA less than what UA and US are pricing their nonstop to IAD...

Pricing performed on Kayak.com (soon to be powered by Amadeus?)

Ain't no FC, mistah. All AE rjs nowadays. We had 3 or 4 mainline flights/day STL-DCA. F/C was always full with revenue passengers--very few, if any, upgrades from coach. If AA thinks the miles alone will keep those passengers, they had better think again. East terminal (WN's operation) is just chock full of people in business attire with their laptop cases at their side. A lot of them used to be AA customers.

I don't know about that Eric. STL has become a very busy and profitable operation for WN as AA continues to reduce service there. Go over to East Terminal these days and you see the kinds of passenger crowds that you used to see in Concourse C. In fact, it seems at times that they are using STL to take pressure off of MDW as AA was supposed to do with STL vis-a-vis ORD.

They may fly DAL-DCA nonstop in 2014 (who wouldn't?), but I don't think STL-DCA service will be dropped. There's a lot of military and defense-related business around there.

Wrong. Eagle's three daily STL-DCA flights are on two-class CRJ700s with nine F seats each. $697 one-way economy for tomorrow morning or $776 for a discounted First Class ticket (in A inventory).

$1/mi for a 700 mile flight is good money if AA can get it. And even in economy, it's about two hours - easily survivable.

SWA will sent flights from STL TO DCA with about 120 pax on first day. Same thing on the return Sept 30

WN's fare levels are still more than high enough for them to make good money - and still do it at costs that are well below anyone's costs on any RJ. They have demonstrated in the past with multiple carriers that WN mainline service usually wins over RJ service on a network carrier.

WN is still connecting DCA with the rest of their system since the FL network still disproportionately has the majority of DCA and LGA slots - and they have alot of work to do to make that all happen. We still don't know what ATL will look like for WN but with the number of DCA slots that WN currently has, the chances of ATL keeping 6 of them is probably not likely.

Love field is coming and it is a given that AA will shift or obtain slots to open that route.

One flight is OMA- STL_DCA and no it is not DAL STL DCA.
Probably the only thing STL will lose with the end of the Wright
admendment are nonstops to DAL currently running 9 per day
that will drop to 4-5.
