Will US hire in PHX anytime soon?

I worked for US for about 2 years as a Fleet Service Agent in PHX. I moved back home to the midwest about 2 years ago to help a family member out. I got another job as a ramp agent in my old home town, but now I'm getting laid off. I'm just curious as to the odds of US hiring again in PHX? When I was there during the merger, I actually started as an HP agent, the turnover of employees was amazing.

sorry to hear about your situation ....i talked with some fellow workers a few days ago about just this subject ... i'd say the concensus here on the ramp is that they won't be hiring again until things turn around . Furthermore we no longer have high turnover , not with the bad economy and better wages , my advice to you is to stay where your at , the economy in arizona sucks

Probably slim to none chance for a while. They just let a fair amount of people go. They will be hiring in DC in the next year so that is something to consider, but I imagine that the employees that were furloughed will have first dibs.

Thanks for the replies. Believe me the economy sucks just as bad where I'm at if not worse. I think I just regret t the choice I made in coming back here. If I stayed out there I probably would have been safe at US. Oh well I should have known. Out of curiosity how many did they lay off out there? Was it in PHX? Did it effect Ramp workers? I saw that there hiring in DCA but I can't afford to live there. Thanks.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!

Phx will be less than a focus city soon.

No such thing as safe in job security in the airline business

Why do you think that PHX will be "less than a Focus City soon?" I find that hard to believe, especially since they've made LAS basically a Focus City already. I'm pretty sure they would want to leave a Hub out west. I agree with you 700UW that there is no security left in the airline biz union or not!

I truly feel for anyone who wants to work on the ramp in PHX....I did for a short term to learn their managers are totally clueless as how to treat people. Good Luck!

So, getting back on topic, the majority of layoffs were ramp workers and some gate agents, club agents, etc. Most of them were out at smaller stations in the midwest, there weren't many in PHX.
