These sources that "can not be identified" have stated that one of the major hang ups on finishing the deal is this question of leadership, What do you think?

Don Carty and David Cush would be my choice. Perhaps David Neeleman could be recruited as well. :D

I say Cush could do a good job. At least he knows how to keep employees relatively happy and has figured out some customer pleasing ideas from Virgin. Better yet, how about somebody from a happy customer and happy employee company like Southwest? They must have someone that relishes a challenge and doesn't want to sell their house.

I picked Crandall because he was an airline person.

Frankly, airline managements are run by people who put their own pockets first instead of the company's well being.

Airline management teams today would not rape and pillage their employees if they did not get their million dollar bonuses.

Greed is greed. Until we get airline business people with good morales and principles towards the men and women who produce the product of safe, comfortable air travel then nothing will change.

The article you posted says he is leaning toward being named Chairman of the Board, not CEO. He wouldn't have so much daily operational control of AA, more of the direction of AA in that capacity. Like allowing him more say in the future plan from the fleet and routes. Sounds more honorary to me. Something to let him save face. Although, he might be in a position to stick that crappy livery and logo on us for a lot longer than it should be.

Crandall is the only logical choice but he is from a bygone era. Now we have IDIOTS running the show. One after another. They line up, do their damage and collect their golden parachutes on the way out. Then the cycle repeats itself with the next IDIOT.

If u keep reading clearly states ceo

No, the WSJ article clearly hints at Horton becoming Chairman of the Board of Directors and Parker becoming the CEO.

At least when it came out earlier today, it said nothing about Horton being named the CEO of the merged entity - it only identifies him as the current CEO of AA.

Ok we shall see soon enough then

Nothing really to see. Per the article you posted, Tommy Boy is angling to have a job, any job. At this point, it looks like the best he can do is become Chairman of the Board. Not CEO. Looks like he has nothing else lined up. Too bad, it would be better for all if he would just run off into the sunset with his tail between his legs like all losers do. By the way, if he does get the Chairman job, look for it to be short term like Tilton's was at UA.

Ok, so we are going to refer to Horton as Tommy Boy and Parker as some boy genius savior? News flash, Horton didn't choose bankruptcy, THE BOARD DID, then Arpey refused to be a part of that decision and stepped down, so Horton took over.

Horton has done a fine job getting everything done in Bankruptcy, it's this US Air merger that is delaying everything. Just cause employees got less money doesn't mean Horton sucks. ANY CEO who didn't get reduced contracts would be viewed as an idiot and removed by the BOD, and most likely court and UCC would not approve them.

For as dumb as employees like to claim management is, they early have no grasp on what it means to be CEO cause if they did, calling Horton an idiot would mean they would have to say no to Parker. You would think if employees were so smart and knew what was best for AA, they would at least say no to both and request someone else.

Most labor employees (as many have admitted on here) want the most money and benefits as they can get, regardless of whether that would mean others at AA and AA as a whole would suffer, so when employes have this attitude it is fair but when CEOs do it is unfair. So basically, fairness in employees eyes is decided by who has the least amount of money. Makes PERFECT sense.

Btw, hate him or love him, Uncle Bob would be a choice MOST US Air and AA employees would be ok with because he they may not love his labor policies but they believe he is competent.
