Who Is Excel Aviation?

ANy info on who this outfit is? I saw they flew a flight for us to London and for a while they were in sabre showing that they were operating some 737-400's for us but they removed them so I think that was an error....

Does anyone know if they provided crews and the plane or just the aircraft?

Doing Manchester and London, UK I see Excel Airlines all the time. With all the flights to and from Philly cancelled for a few days they may have made a deal with them. I know they do charters out of those two uk airports. It's possible. I was to work the flight home on the 21st from LGW to PHL but it was already scheduled as cancelled. The tiny ticket counter there was literally a madhouse. They were trying to put passengers on any airline they could to the states and offering cash along with it.

Excel is a U.K. charter operator. Their website is here: Excel Airways.

If they were operating for US Airways transatlantic (would this be legal?), it would probably be using one of their 767-200's, which are configured for (are you sitting down?) 290 Y seats (yes, 290, not a typo) in a single-class, eight-across configuration. Not what I'd want on an eight hour flight to PHL.

Excel operated flight 9021 yesterday March 23 LGW-PHL replacing A-330 cancelled flight 99. While as their website does show a horrible 290 seat 8 abreast 767-200 the aircraft used to PHL was a two class 767-300 in a 52C-203Y config with a normal 7 abreast 2-3-2 config in coach and oddly 2-2-2 in the first 4 rows and 2-3-2 in the second 4 rows of Biz class. I think A-330 A/C 673 is due out of BFM tonight so that hopefully this will not happen again.

Maybe Excel will be the final equity partner in exchange for the right to operate all of US' TATL service.

I've always wondered ...

How come only airline wannabes (and not actual airline folk themselves) use the phrase / acronym / whatever, "TATL"?

Just a random musing, a propos of nothing ...

So they would have used their own crews? Is that allowed under the Pilot and FA contracts?

I just was wondering because I had a passenger question what to expect service wise from them..nothing against our crews but I would expect the plane to at least be cleaner and nicer than our 767's.

In the past cpuple of day they have been doing two A320 trip in the place of the 330 to SJU. There has to be more than one 330 out of service for that to happen. from time to time they also a 767 flight to a 757. If they can't handle the winter schedule I wonder how they are going to do it with venice and barcelona plus shannon and dublin.
