The company really needs to find a replacement plane to fly to Hawaii, these planes are breaking every day a/c 908 has had engine shut down problems that could cost the etops program. the planes are old and falling apart they are showing the lack care they have not received ever sense they stated outsourcing the heavy checks and blowing off the mods to save money. some wide bodies would be a nice pickup for this service. a330's or 767's

Wow, makes me feel really safe flying our jetliners. I won't be nonreving to HI anytime soon!

Well believe me some of our a/c here on the east side are Nooooooooo better. We have some real doozies. Hey is our Christine plane still flying? So many tail numbers are changed on the 757 now that I don't know what the hell plane I'm on. Are the little gray FAA plaques up front still the same?

A 767/330 can not work the WEST routes due to the CBA's of the WEST AFA and WEST ALPA.. Not going to happen untill a combined contract... 😀

As far as the old age of our 757's, Yes they are old. However, they are ok. Most pilots say they are ok... and some of our mx members ay they keep our jets in top conditions... However, due to staffing shortages that they indside sometimes goes without care... due to staffing. ONe Mx member on the west told me that....

If Parker wins control of Delta, the airplane for that route will be the 767-300. Delta flies 767-3/400's domestically, so Doogie would place then on Intl./HI routes ASAP.

Actually I think that US-East is allowed to fly 1 trip to Hawai'i and HP is allowed to fly one trip to Europe under the transition agreements.

So technically, US could move the PHL/SJU A333 to HNL if we had the time available.

How many 757's are dedicated to the Hawaii operation including PHX and LAS?

There is also a 767 that does the PHL-SJU runs. Use that 767 on the Hawaii route and let West fly that with one of their 757's.

The PHL-SJU flight goes back to PHL then to LGW.

we have 9 a/c that are etops at this time 1 is in c-check these planes are over used they also fly the domestic routes and on avg 1 plane is always broke. 908 spent more time sitting in Hawaii the last 2 weeks then flying.

If this is true it could cost A-West their ETOPS certificate, which is seperate from USAir, I guess we would run it but with what, don't have enough planes to go around with all the new Europe service.

What brand new plane could replace the 757? Those things are simply amazing when they work. Packed to the gills with people and cargo, nothing can beat it. Maybe, the 737-900 ER but really nothing can do what it does.....

I am alsmost sure you are correct. That was the Pilots transitional agreement.

And your "almost sure" would be correct. The only correction is that West can fly 2 daily European/Caribbean routes, not 1.

There is something of a loophole in the transition agreement, though I'm not sure that West has the equipment to allow management to take advantage of it. The specific language covering this pertains only to "current and announced flying, as of the date of this transition agreement".

I believe HP had announced it's intentions to start all the HI routes at the time the transition agreement was signed, meaning that those routes are covered and only 1 can be flown by East pilots/planes. But there have been several European routes added since then that are currently flown by East pilots/planes (with more to come this summer). So technically, West pilots and planes could fly any of the newer routes in addition to the 2 specifically mentioned.
