Did you ever hear of a code share partner? OH like Star Alliance? We can go to virtually ANYPLACE in the far east and still have our Dividend Miles account credited.

It's far better for US to merge with a carrier that has far east routes in place. NWA is such a company. IMO US NEEDS that revenue as the Far East is where the emerging economies are. DL doesn't provide that. The best way to maximize ROI is the fly the routes yourself. DL was of no help to US in that regard. Europe will soon be saturated as the Monkey See, Monkey Do Legacy carriers get done flocking there. The idea in business is carve a market where there is growth potential.

As usual US is a day late and a dollar short.

I couldn't agree more, Asia/India is definitely the future of airline travel. As stated, DAL/LCC have very little of their own aluminum flying routes to these destinations, nor would a merger between the two fix that.

Damn, you outted me, PhxMama, i'm really a huge Doogie fan!!! Oh well, now that everybody knows my dark secret i'll go back to the Delta forum. I've lost any credibility i may or may not have had with my peeps. :(
 And you won't be missed any more than our service to Trenton, NJ :p

"complimentary route networks that when put together creates the best route network of any airline in the world" Huh???

Nothing could be further from the truth. Complimentary route network??? We have more overlap than any other combination.

This merger creates the best route network of any airline in the world??? Yeah, ok. This merger wouldn't have given us anything we don't already have, except perhaps for some Caribbean cities. It wouldn't have helped us out in South America, LCC doesn't even fly to South America. It wouldn't have helped out in Europe, LCC has an extremely small footprint in Europe right now, though it will eventually get better with more A330's and A350's. Oh yeah, that gaping hole in Asia, no help there. And is it me, or does Kirby look like he's 17 years old, and whats with the sling, did he fall off his big wheel???

The Takeover is Over. Why not do the same and go back to a Board where you can represent and contribute to the future growth of Delta. Your continuing postings here Bashing US and it's management is getting a bit Old and is/has greatly reduced the quality of this Forum.

Speaking of Europe, how many destinations does DL fly to? I think US flies to about 20.
For Delta & codeshares:
Africa: 33
Asia & the Middle East: 31
Australia / New Zealand: 1
Canada: 14
Caribbean: 26
Eastern Europe: 20
Western Europe: 65
Mexico / Central America: 39
South America: 14
