"complimentary route networks that when put together creates the best route network of any airline in the world" Huh???

Nothing could be further from the truth. Complimentary route network??? We have more overlap than any other combination.

This merger creates the best route network of any airline in the world??? Yeah, ok. This merger wouldn't have given us anything we don't already have, except perhaps for some Caribbean cities. It wouldn't have helped us out in South America, LCC doesn't even fly to South America. It wouldn't have helped out in Europe, LCC has an extremely small footprint in Europe right now, though it will eventually get better with more A330's and A350's. Oh yeah, that gaping hole in Asia, no help there. And is it me, or does Kirby look like he's 17 years old, and whats with the sling, did he fall off his big wheel???

One man's opinion I guess. Maybe he meant most profitable.
I think the merger had a good chance to be that, with heavy East coast presence along with the added heft trans-Atlantic.
Speaking of Europe, how many destinations does DL fly to? I think US flies to about 20.

As it stands today, 34 in Europe.

And a great big black hole in asia :( where the real money is...

Actually, we serve 23 destinations throughout Asia via codeshare. We serve Tokyo, and in the coming months Seoul, and we applied for the ATL-Shanghai route. We aren't ordering the mighty 777LR, which is the longest-range aircraft in the world, for nothing.

Wonder how many US serves...if we are now counting Codeshare flights. Remember the Star Alliance?

Since you asked, i did a little snooping and found this,

http://www.usairways.com/awa/content/routemap.aspx

Go ahead and scroll over to Asia. For those who can't see the route map, i'll go ahead and tell you how many destinations LCC serves in Asia, either with their own aircraft, or via codeshare. The grand total??? Zero.

While your at it, go ahead and scroll down to South America, you won't be disappointed.
