Just a question. Ive noticed while the stock market is soaring, our stock continues to plunge. Is this just US, or are other airlines stocks going down as well. Does anyone have a comment on this?

The reason the stock is tanking is that all the analyst are saying that UAIR has a good chance to go BK again. They are very concerned with the weak showing in the last quarter while other airlines are improving. Lastly and most importantly, the LCC's are coming to town in PHL and they think UAIR is not going to be able to compete and sustain losses.

In addition Jet Blue and American are taking aim at UAIR in Boston by adding capicity, the other airlines smell blood and are going after UAIR and their lucrative east coast network.

These are the reasons the stock is tanking.

This bothers me ....private talks???????

Leaders of US Airways' pilots' union met yesterday in Charlotte, N.C., to discuss the new crisis facing the airline, but issued no comment. Two other unions, representing passenger service agents and mechanics, have said that they will not reopen their contracts, though they have held discussions with company officials. Since the company's filing for bankruptcy, its unions have granted the airline two sets of concessions, and the pilots' pension plan was replaced by a less generous program.

In an interview in Tokyo last week, Mr. Siegel played down the unions' refusal to negotiate further cuts, terming this "common rhetoric." He added, "We've had some good private talks."

Ummm, let's not jump the gun here. Who made the "private talks" comment???

Whatever is really going on, it's in Siegel's interest to weaken the unions. What better way to do that than to plant the seeds of divide and conquer.


Nonetheless, I would urge our union leaders to avoid signing non-disclosure letters in any future bargaining though. If the company wants to talk badly enough, let them do it with complete transparency.

As I have pointed out in a previous post, ALPA is about to issue a press release.

It has nothing to do with giving anything away or selling anyone out.

Pay attention. The "common rhetoric" of this management blaming our problems on everything and anything except themselves is about to stop.

The IAM, Fleet and Mechanic and Related met with Dave two weeks ago, nothing secret and told Dave that the concession stand is closed, the members have given concessions to you twice to make this company successful. Dave's reply was that if the company fails it is on your shoulders, the IAM replied back that collectively all the executives in the room dont even have the seniority of one of the AGCs. Dave was also informed that the very same employees built this company, gave back in two rounds of concessions and if the company fails it is on Dave and his so-called management team, not the employees.

I sure as heck hope that is what the IAM rep told Dave! What the heck more could he take from us, espeically for me and a lot of us still left in the "EXPRESSED
OUT" stations!
