Chip,

Perhaps you should look up "sanguine" in the dictionary.

I talked to Glenn Tilton at TK just 48 hours ago and your concern , while appreciated , is missplaced. I assume you understand that your wish for a negative outcome at United will not make it happen. It does make me wonder what thought first crossed your mind on 9-11? I'll say a prayer for your soul just in case my suspicions are correct.

Respectfully sanguine yet somewhat melancholy about the prospect that you have any idea whats going on,
Todd

PS. Why don't you make some bold, specific and testable predictions, then in March we can all see what an insider you really are?

Chip:

You really need to learn to use a dictionary because, unless you've changed your oft-stated view of United's supposed problems as it attempts to emerge from bankruptcy, you are dreadfully mis-using the word "sanguine" in your posts!

From The Oxford Desk Dictionary, American Edition, 1995:

Sanguine / Sang'gwin / adj. : optimistic; confident.

Is this what you really mean? If not, please choose another word to more accurately describe your opinions about United.

Let's all hope Chip's grasp of how to fly a plane is somewhat better than his grasp of both the English language, and of what is going on inside the UAL boardroom. (Though the latter two are good for a chuckle now and then!)

I agree with Dilligas. UAL folks, please don't take the bait. I appreciate your kind words and thoughts during this time and know that most U employees are hoping for the best for all airline employees.

Dea
Dilligas & Dea Carte,
Thanks for the kind words.
I've been absent from these boards for a while now; one self-imposed, another a suspension for inappropriate avatars. (Sorry, I'm just a big kid at heart). :D
On the United ALPA forum, one of UAL's pilots posted his experience on U metal, and I wanted to relate it (hopefully I've stated everything correctly) to all of U's employees. The UAL pilot was returning from a military deployment with a dozen or so of his squadron mates (he was the only airline pilot). The UAL pilot identified himself to one of the FAs as a UAL pilot returning from a military deployment in case the Captain needed any assistance. The U Captain not only upgraded the UAL pilot to first class, but also all of his squadron mates.
I have no doubt that almost everyone at U is a class act.
Fraternally,
iflyjetz

Kevin & Kyle:

With all due respect, I disagree with your comments above. I believe it serves no useful purpose to have a "he said, she said" type of debate and I will not do that, but as I said, I disagree with your comments.

Respectfully,

Chip

Kevin,

Thanks for clarifying the rules of etiquette, and the reminder of the definition of a "wind up."

Chip this United obsession of yours is getting really old and boring. Leave United alone! It serves no purpose to speculate on the fate of their company when clearly the company we work for has pieces of manure managing it. It's time for all US employees to get their knee-high boots and pitchforks ready to do some serious shoveling. The manure is about to hit the fan.

Kevin,

Maybe you could post a reminder of the definition of the word sanguine.

You guys keep it up and USAviation will become the target of a UCT/ICT.

FlyingHippie:

I have no obsession, the information I have posted is what has been discussed between the two companies and informed sources.

Regardless, I will not participate in what has become a "locker room jive" or "Yahoo! type" message board decorum. It is really a waste of time and serves no useful purpose.

As I have said countless times, I believe United can emerge from bankruptcy, but after Duane Woerth's September 11 comments to the US Airways ALPA MEC I'm now less certain than before that the El Grove Township-based airline will emerge from Chapter 11.

I do find the apparent S&P discontinuity interesting, especially since they are one of three credit ratings agencies.

On Thursday S&P analyst Philip Baggaley released a report that said, "The ongoing disputes with a wide range of creditors are likely to make potential lenders cautious in future dealings with United if and when it reorganizes successfully."

Then yesterday Business Week published a column where S&P analyst Jim Corridore said "S&P thinks it's likely that UAL will emerge from bankruptcy."

As the saying goes...Whose on first? What's on second? And I do not know who is on third?

It seems ironic the credit agency has two analysts who are quoted with different views.

Nonetheless, we all should find out the disposition of the US Airways Pittsburgh hub, United's DIP covenant issues, and United's POR, where there is strong reason to believe all three of these issues are interrelated, shortly.

I too am tired of discussing these issues and I believe we will know more in the not-so-distant future.

Respectfully,

Chip

Chip comments: 737, with all due respect, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Maybe you should learn to use a question mark with your questions. What were you saying about grammar?

Respectfully,

In defense of 737nCH11, please return to his post and you will note that it is not a question, but rather a suggestion, so therefore, it is a statement not an interrogative. Statements require a period rather than a question mark.

Thank you for posting the link to the BusinessWeek article. It is my hope that the current upward trend in the industry continues to benefit US and UA.
