You just now figuring that out. IMO the cost of fuel will be the death blow to US and a couple of other airlines. Labor cannot possibly carry the load by taking paycuts unless they paid the company to come to work.USA320Pilot said:The major problem is simple: it's primarily fuel, fuel, fuel...

That maybe true. But just because the demand maybe lower in the USA does not mean the demand won't still be there. Fuel is a world market issue. I think you're correct in that demand causes the price to go up and if the USA demands less of it I don't think it will matter that much cause there are countries like China that will demand more. Thus the price will stay high. Can companies like US/UA/AA possible pay the same for fuel that the China government can. I think not. And OPEC could care less. They will sell to the highest bidder.funguy2 said:lower demand for Jet A should lower prices

Well that is a stroke of genius!!! Beef up ops cut service!!
"In regard to Panana City and San Salvador, the announcement was likely due to poor bookings. Over all, it’s my understanding much of the Fort Lauderdale plan is a success with strong bookings and obviously some is not as successful."
Hello, service to PTY began 3 days ago and SAL not even two weeks ago. How does one define success of failure after so few days in operation. I checked a few loads into mar-apr. Not all bad, PTY was overbooked a couple of days.
Its embarassing and very disappointing to see the transformation plan sink so quick. So does one take the buy-out or wait for unemployment and retraining?
Just when you thought a really lousy baggage situation could not get any worse! At least we still have Al and Donna backing the customer service agents. I think the real name of the company in El Salvador is They don't give a sh**-o!USA320Pilot said:Separately, the Passenger Baggage Call Center in PIT is closing. Baggage-related calls will be directed to a new call center operated by a company called Atento in El Salvador. Atento has begun the training for the US Airways group and they will be servicing calls beginning this week. US Airways currently has a Website Technical Support Center in San Salvador and is likely to open a new reservations center there too.
