US Airways Moving to United Airlines B Concourse

Didn't they once run an airside shuttle bus? Or was that in SFO?
There was once an airside tunnel connecting all the south side LAX terminals.

If they once did, they do not now.

I believe there is an underground tunnel connecting T-5 (DL) with T-6. But it does not do US flyers any good. T-1 is completely self-contained airside. The only way to connect to another terminal is to exit the security zone. WN is the only airline to which US customers can connect without re-clearing security.

If US is unable or unwilling to switch to one of the UA terminals at LAX, it would be really nice if UA/CO/US could arrange some form of reciprocal security fast-pass access for all customers who must re-clear security to make connections. It would be even nicer if the same could be done for *A domestic travelers connecting to/from international connections in other terminals.

I would never do that UA-US connection at LAX again. A few years back, I had to go from T-9 to T-1 on the Friday before Memorial Day. My UA flight arrived late and I had to get on the bus.

Little-known secret: You can walk across the parking lot to get from the UA terminals to T-1. ;) It's about a 5-minute walk, possibly a bit longer if you are dragging alot of luggage.

It won't help you with the security line, but at least you can avoid the hideous traffic buildup re-entering LAX.

Obviously, moving US to T6 or T8 (which is practically a ghost town now) would make a lot of sense, but not solve the overall problem if an international connection is involved on any carrier other than UA. (CO has no international service out of LAX.) WN is probably salivating over the potential for getting the US gates at T-1......which leads me to believe that US would prefer not to give them up, even if it means a hassle connecting between CO/UA & US.

US is intentionally staying in T1 so WN cannot grow further. The 321's would not fit into T8

Today, UA is having 13 m/l flights depart from 81, 83, 84 & 86 to SFO(3), ORD (3), LAS (3), IAD (2), PIT, PHL. All are Airbus or what's left of the 737. There are 12 m/l arrivals into T8 from SFO (6), LAS (2), ORD (2), IAD, PHL . There are only 2 late night arrivals into T6 today, an Airbus from IAD (697) at 9:40pm to 66 and a 757 from DEN (815) into 68B at the same time. No T6 departures for today. You can tell I'm busy at work!

Great info on all the other United codeshare cities, thanks.
Now, does anyone have confirmation on the move to the B Concourse in DEN?

DCA agents indicated earlier this week US Airways will obtain the Frontier and United gates in the middle pier for US Airways' expanded DCA schedule this winter. Frontier currently shares gate 24 with US Airways and United operates out of gates 27, 29, and shares gate 31.

Quothe a UA agent at DCA last week:

"Short of US building us (UA) a new club and paying for the move, we are not going anywhere."

And I believe it.

UA could take the old NW club in Terminal A. ;-)

But, seriously, until I see a press release or talk to an official source as WMATA, I would not trust what agents are saying from either airline. Rumors can easily turn into incorrect 'facts'.

Just an FYI, the documents filed with the SEC by US/DL indicate US and DL will share in the cost of relocating other airlines in DCA should that become necessary.

Has anyone heard anything about the move to the B concourse in Denver?

Only if DL keeps the space it has now. If the shuffling requires DL to move, US gets to pay for the whole shebang.

Has anyone heard anything about the move to the B concourse in Denver?

... Denver International has freed up some additional gate space thanks to a deal with United, the airport's dominant carrier. The move also allows United to consolidate gate space with Star Alliance partners Continental and US Airways. The Denver Post writes "early next year, Continental will vacate its three gates on Concourse A and move to three on the west end of B, (airport deputy manager Patrick Heck) said. Similarly, US Airways will depart its two gates on Concourse C and move to two B gates across from Continental."

The moves are part of an amendment to United's long-term lease at the airport. ...
