Talk from DEN station, we might be moving to the B councourse in JAN of 2010???? Southwest taking over the rest of the C gates. Does anyone know the full details on the move? Good for commuters, and non-revs!!
Sounds like a great move. MGMT? Great for Star Alliance and codeshare connections across the system. Also, I find it funny we have a thru flight from DEN- PHL -London Heathrow??? Why? And what equipment change in PHL??
Maybe the GREAT MERGER is finally happening?!

All airlines have these "funny money" through flights. At AA we have (or used to have) a SAN-ORD-CDG through flight. The SAN-ORD leg was on an MD-80. As you can guess, I had to make the "There will be a change of equipment at Chicago for those passengers continuing to Paris" PA as we approached ORD.

As far as the move to United Concourse B, maybe it's because WN is expanding again in Denver. That is not necessarily a good thing for any of us that serve Denver.

If true, this is good news (for US Airways anyway). Eaiser connections to United flights for passengers and non-revs, and I HATED having to walk all the way down C concourse to get to the gate. Plus, IMHO, concourse B has better resturants, bars, smoking lounge, etc.
WN expansion at DEN isn't great for F9 or UA, but I don't think it will really hurt US much (more than they already have anyway).
The DEN-PHL-LHR flight have the same flight number but you change from a 320 to a 767 in PHL.

This is also suppose to happen in SFO, when Terminal 2 is finished being renovated.
American, jetBlue and Virgin American will go there

Us Air and Continental to take the old American gates

Leaving Southwest, Alaska and MidWest in Terminal 1

But of course ALL rumor

Haven't been to the west coast for a while...did this sort of thing happen in LAX or SFO or SEA?

US is still in Terminal 1 at LAX. They share the terminal with WN.

Transitting between T-1 and T-6, 7 & 8 (the UA terminals) requires exiting the security zone. It's a real pain in the butt, and a good argument for avoiding US to LAX if you will be connecting onward to any other *A partner flight. US would be well-served to move to T-6 or T-8. Perhaps they could swap gates with some of the smaller carriers who also fly out of T-6.

It would be a smart move for Star to continue to try to combine their flights in the same terminals in as many cities as possible. Great for connections, club use, and when having to reroute on another Star carrier.
In TPA US is in F, UA and AC are in E and CO is in A. US has a club in F, but this means customers have to take the tram to F and clear security to get to the club, ride the tram back to the main terminal and out to their airside, then clear security again to get to their gate.
Also with the code share deals, we get a lot of UA*-UA* flights on US to/from CO intra Florida conx to our hubs. It would be much easier and more convenient (having to have less of a conx time and walk) if all Star carriers could be moved to F. But, I dont see AA moving any time soon.
If we are moving to B in DEN, that would be a good thing for the customers (we do have quite a few conx there to UA).

I don't understand why UA and CO don't move to C, B and A at PHL, share the US clubs and some gates - thereby making A,B and C essentially a *A hub and reducing US's real estate costs. It would seem possible once DL/NW move out of A to E - if that still is the plan. Possibly the direct competition with UAs international services out of IAD and CO 's at EWR might be a factor in preventing this.

DCA agents indicated earlier this week US Airways will obtain the Frontier and United gates in the middle pier for US Airways' expanded DCA schedule this winter. Frontier currently shares gate 24 with US Airways and United operates out of gates 27, 29, and shares gate 31.

And where is United moving given their club is in the middle pier?

The *A carriers are spread over 4 terminals at LAX:

T-1: US
T-2: ANZ & AC
T-6, 7 & 8: UA (all connected airside)
Tom Bradley International Terminal: Every other *A international carrier not mentioned above.

With the exception of T-6, 7 & 8, none of the terminals at LAX are not connected airside. If you fly on any domestic US *A carrier and connect to an international carrier, it will involve a terminal change, which means exiting the security zone. Obviously, moving US to T6 or T8 (which is practically a ghost town now) would make a lot of sense, but not solve the overall problem if an international connection is involved on any carrier other than UA. (CO has no international service out of LAX.) WN is probably salivating over the potential for getting the US gates at T-1......which leads me to believe that US would prefer not to give them up, even if it means a hassle connecting between CO/UA & US.

Didn't they once run an airside shuttle bus? Or was that in SFO?
There was once an airside tunnel connecting all the south side LAX terminals.

I would never do that UA-US connection at LAX again. A few years back, I had to go from T-9 to T-1 on the Friday before Memorial Day. My UA flight arrived late and I had to get on the bus. The line for security at T-1 was out the door and down the sidewalk. I went up to a LAX ticket agent and told him I was a US1 and begged him to get me to my flight on time because the CP desk said there were no other flights. He asked me for my ticket and said, "follow me"...I was through security within 5 minutes and just made the flight. Pink was on my flight and the A asked her to sign his shirt with a black magic marker and then made all sorts of announcements about her on the PA. Anyway, I'll always remember the kindness of that LAX ticket agent.
