That's a nice feature if you happen to be one of the 99.99% of passengers whose luggage is actually going to the same airport at the same time. But it will inevitably spin up some outrage when a passenger sees the door close and his smart phone is telling him his luggage is not onboard. The, he/she has the opportunity to spend the next hour, or two, or five, or ten, stewing about it, or worse.

Gotta agree with nycbusdriver. On paper this is an awesome idea. It's always great PR to give customers more information. The problem, however, will be that some pasengers (and probably most) that discover prior to pushback that their bag isn't on the aircraft. All it takes is for them to refuse to sit down or something. The solution is to delay the tracking by about an hour. Problem there is that then you're withholding information until it's too late, which is a PR disaster. They should keep this internal and make it public only for rerouted bags.

I can also see this new innovation becoming a problem for the same reasons mentioned above. Sometimes too much information isn't good, and this is one of them.

Yeah no this is a bad idea ,things are just going to get worse for our customer service agents ,and while our scanning of bags is good its not perfect , when summer hits things get wonky not to mention its going to be a flex summer .

Great new service HOWEVER US Airways still does not have an APP for either Iphone or Android.

Delta has had this service for several years, and I haven't heard any of the concerns mentioned above. I love it as a passenger, even when my bag doesn't make it, as at least I know where it is and don't spend 30+ min waiting for it to come on the conveyor belt.
