i am one that would love to see usair survive even if it means to become a low cost carrier.

It's not could be getting, they are getting.

They will be getting roughly $1M in subsidies EACH for PLS, GUA, PTY, SJO, and SAL.

FLL is very generous with new service, and gives these subsidies for all new international services for services west of the Mississippi. AA has already gotten $3M in subsidies for SDQ, PAP, and CCS service.

Indeed, US already received some subsidies from FLL for the first year it operated FLL-BDA.

This promotional incentives must be offered on an equal basis and can only involve the waiving of fees for a promotional period. The airport can set some parameters as to what kind of new service gets the waivers, within limits.
