I was so pleased that US Airways posted a profit in this past quarter. Then, I was a bit discouraged about the sale of aircraft in the articles I read. What aircraft are we talking about?

If USAirways sells an asset they are required to use 75% of the proceeds to pay down the debt guaranteed by the Government, isn't this the case?

Results got a boost from the sale of aircraft, lower health-benefit costs, a favorable tax settlement and fuel hedging.

Just how much of a boost?? enough of a boost to turn a loss into a gain??

Man, I dont envy Bronner et al at all.. They have to make themselves look like crap to employees, yet make themselves look like gold to lenders and investors... They both deserve every penny they will eventually steal from UAir. Thats hard work. ;)

It IS hard work but Im confident all of them will properly do their "job" and leave this company just like all the others before them, with millions. The spin never stops. We have to make a profit occationally just to pay them all off.

If I heard the conference call right, the airplanes sold were not part of US's active fleet. They had been previously leased to another user and were sold out of the lease.

Deducting this one-time gain and the one from Medicare, there *was* an profit for which I give the management an astonished round of applause - never thought they'd do so well.
