TWU - Joint or Seperate Negotiations

JFK(lga), Buck;
The west coast dockworkers, were locked out, because they "implemented" the time proven method of "working-to-rule", or as the company(s) perceived it, A SLOWDOWN.

I'll grant you that the good ol' days, are fast becoming a distant memory, but it was great to see(mabey for the last time ??) the STRONGEST Industrial union LEFT, bring management to it's KNEE's, while enduring a Management imposed lockout, a Taft-Hartly injunction(GWB), and ULTIMATELY getting what they wanted, NO LOSS OF JOBS.
The absolute BEST part was the "stentch" of rotting perishable cargo, in the holds of 200 ships WAITING for a berth(not counting the ones already tied up to the pier's), AND DOING IT WITH 100% UNITY !!!!!

Unless a person is suicidle(SP?), you DON'T EVER cross a dockworkers picket line.
NEVER !!!!!!!!!!!!

NH/BB's

Jeez, I just got myself so worked up, that I've got to go and plug in my old "On the Waterfront" tape, starring TERRY MALLOY(I mean MARLON BRANDO), into the vcr !!

So how does the TWU gain this unity you speak of? If they fund the AFL-CIO and the AFL-CIO does not provide unity, what does a worker do? As a mechanic, I will admit that I am more concerned with those issues that affect me. While this is natural in itself, it is also brought about by the neglect of the AFL-CIO and therefore the TWU. The AFL-CIO is concerned with the labor issues of old. They need to find their membership and focus on what is important to them collectively and not what they perceive it to be through forced political contributions.
