Twu International Reps To Take 70% Cut In Pay!

If you figure that an International Rep gets $130000/year from the International, plus an additional (prior to concessions) $72,000 from the company that puts their pay at $202,000 per year.

Not bad!

So when we took a 17.5% cut in pay, their paycut, since only the AA portion was cut was only around 5 or 6%.

However when we get AMFA and they lose their International jobs and return to the floor they will be reduced to $62,000/yr.

That comes out to a whopping 70% cut in pay!

Is there any sympathy out there for our (soon to be) poor International Reps?

Well I've given you several weeks to "clear this up" but you have refused to do so. So I will go by appearences. Here is what I see:

The Presidents collect a 40 hour paycheck from the company that is not reimbursed by the Local, as it was prior to the formation of the seperate Locals.

This 40 hour paycheck was not reflected on the LM-2 because it did not come from funds that were in the posession of the Local.

So the Presidents salary as reported on the LM-2 was only those funds that were recieved from the Local. That means that there should appear to be a cut in Presidents pay, for those locals that were in existance prior to 1999, after the company agreed to pay these salaries. Is that what happened in Local 514? Or, did the President simply continue to collect his entire pay as before plus the 40 hour paycheck from the company? This is a question, not an accustation, because I dont know.

When Bobby Gless became an International rep his dues were still submitted through payroll.

He claims that he took a paycut, member Frank Alduino told me that Bobby Gless stated this to him personally. I have also recieved information from a Tulsa member who said that Yingst claimed that they took a 6% cut in pay. That percentage agrees with the appearance that they are collecting two full time checks, one from the union and one from the company.

The Vermont plan states "eliminate company paid Union Business" valued at, between the two bargaining units, $3 million ($2 million for M&R and $1 million for fleet).

So we have the company saying they pay three million in company paid UB, we have reports of Yingst and Gless claiming that their pay was cut, but not specifying what pay was cut-union or company, and we have the fact that Bobby Gless was still paying his dues from company paid checkoff deduction, indicating a paycheck from the company.

So it appears to me that in addition to our Presidents, our International officers recieve concurrent paychecks from the union and the company based upon concurrent pay periods, in other words-Double Dipping.

None of these unreimursed payments from the company would be reflected on the LM-2. For all we know, everyone from Sonny Hall on down could have been collecting pay from the company and we would have no way of finding out about it through the LM-2.

Feel free to enter any information that would indicate otherwise. Thats what I have and see, feel free to illuminate me.

On another note:

One of the problems with todays reporting system is that total income, as reported to the IRS is not available.

While it could be argued that this is an invasion of privacy and more than the members right to know there is a problem.

What if all these union officials are getting extra monies related to their union positions? Lets say that Sonny Hall reported income on the LM-2 is $200,000. But in addition to that he recieves another $100,000 from AA, another $50,000 from SWA, and other sums from other employers in exchange for industry leading concessions? Where could we find that? We cant. Lets say he gets another $2 million in commissions for the sales of various insurance policies to the 100,000 members of the TWU. We really would have no way of finding that out either. If this was the case, then the majority of his income would not be from the members dues, it would be from people who make money off the members. Since he is not elected by the members the members really cant do anything about it.

During this last round of concessions they took away our 80 day IOD bank, then shortly thereafter, not just once, but twice, sent us a policy application for STD. With the 80 day IOD bank, an STD policy was somewhat redundant. However once they got rid of it they would have a better chance of selling these policies.

Back in 83, they did the same thing. They got rid of the company provided LTD then started selling LTD insurance to the members.

At $17 per week, the insurance for LTD is more than our dues. If we considered this part of our dues we are paying in excess of 4 hours pay per month, nearly $125 per month.

Insurance companies usually sell insurance through brokers who get a commission. Who is to say that Sonny Hall is not considered a broker by Transamerica and given a commission for every policy the TWU sells ? Whats really sweet about it is that the Locals are left with a large part of the expense of the program but are not compensated for it, unless you count the case of oranges they get every year.

The fact is we do not know if this is going on. It could be, and those in control dont even have to address it because they are not working for us, we can not vote them out as individuals because we are not allowed to vote for who controls our union.

That in itself should be enough reason to get rid of this union.

As for your comment towards Mr. Owens you once again prove my point about people hiding behind an alias acting like cowards.
Bob Owens was never a "wannabe". Bob stood up for what he believes in and states his name like a professional and makes educated posts backed up with facts. What do YOU do other than post lies and half truths chanting, "Peanut butter and jelly.", over and over again?
