The 717s were returned. The DC-9s were returned to their lessors. The 767-300s were retired.robbedagain said:Did American get all of the TWA planes painted or just store them in the desert?
MK,kirkpatrick said:All of the 757's and MD80's were stripped and received AA livery. The first 757 will go back to the lessor in December, as was the original plan. Ten more 757's go back the first half of 2004, leaving 16. The leases on those AC are up in 2007, IIRC. This was the original plan when AA bought TWA, that the 757's would be returned when their leases expired.
28 ex-TWA MD80's are parked waiting for conditions to justify bringing them back into service.

Nobody is twisting your arm to read what you call the AMFA CRAP or TWA Bashing.fix_airplanes said:
Finally a decent thread-----instead of the usual TWU/AMFA crap or the AA/TWA bashing.

Your sources are inconsistent with AA's announced fleet plan as to the 767-200s and the MD-80s:AA717driver said:The 767-300's are STILL sitting in GSO. The 11 757's that are to be returned are going in Nov. We are probably drinking beer from the DC-9's
The 28 MD-80's that are at ROW are being prepared to come out of the desert and back into the rotation until they can come back full time.
Also, I heard 14 AA 767-200's are being prepared for a return to the line. They are probably pretty beat up(due to their age) but a seat is a seat.TC
