This might sound hard to believe coming from me - but I dont' think Trump should be on trial. Yeah, he "cooked the books" to get money to pay off a hooker. This kind of reminds me about Bill Clinton getting impeached for lying about a blowjob. As far as cooking the books - For decades Jack Welch was celebrated as the epitome of great corporate leadership, but we come to find out it was due to "cooking the books".

There is only one thing I think Trump should be tried for and that is for inciting the attack on the capitol on January 6.

If you want to play word games, the sure...Trump never explicitly said "attack the capitol". He told people that they needed to fight like hell, but never said who they were supposed to fight. He said that if they didn't fight like hell, they would lose their country. Are Trump supporters so stupid that they cannot infer things for themselves? Some people can hear that and hear a call to arms. Many of them acted on SOMETHING.

And a month before, Trump was urging people to come there for the January 6 rally. "It will be wild" he promised. So people came to Washington DC on a cold January day and watched their hero give a rambling hour and a half speech. I wonder how many people wondered where this "wild time" that they were promised was.

And while Trump never said "hang Mike Pence", he might as well have. But for an hour and a half he rambled on about Pence and "doing the right thing". Then he tweeted out "Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our country and constitution" I remember reading that and said to myself that he just issued a death warrant for Pence. Somebody was motivated enough to create a makeshift gallows while chanting "Hang Mike Pence".

Words are powerful. Trump knows this. But he doesn't care. Everything that man did from election day to January 6 was an attempt to overthrow the US government.
