With the annoucement on the US web site, US has restructured the DM program again.

I may have to rethink my position on BBB. This is one of the best moves they have made in a long time, and is just the opposite of of the proposed changes that started the cockroach movement.

As a an elite of several mileage programs, IMHO, this move puts DM at the top of the heap.

A great move and thanks US!

ps. would somebody pass along my thanks to Ben

That's a much better approach than the one CO took. And, yet, it should have roughly the same effect on paid fares. Nice job, US.

Let's see, I'm already at 350,000 tier miles for the year, so with this I may break 600,000 by December.

Couldn't find the edit button so I'll just add to my comments here.

I figured I would fly US around 150 segments this year before this announcement. The impact of this change means another 25 to 30 legs as it will serve as the tie breaker when looking at DL, FL. CO or NW. US will pick up a couple of thousand in revenue and it will cost them very litte.

I still won't make it next year :( .

But, I've only ever been 'Barely Preferred'

Still, I feel like U has given me great benefits for only being Silver. In fact, I did enjoy two automatic upgrades, even though it was only a DCA-BOS r/t.

I don't whether to laugh or cry.  I do hope that includes the carry over! Cause if it doesn't then you need to get life and do something other than flying on airplanes.

Gee, I had the impression that USFlyer was a U F/A. Obviously, not. Wow, you are why I always feel a little guilty getting a benny for being a lowly Silver.

LOL, no, I am not a F/A. And only some of those miles are rollover miles. I think I have about 80-90K of actual tier miles so far this year. Weekly transcons with 1-2 trips a year to Europe plus 1-2 trips a year to the Caribbean adds up real fast, especially now with the UA partnership.

I must be the descenting voice then. It will not affect my tier miles or the amount of flying I give to US. I'm already at 75 segments this year and will make US1 again by June.

I also don't believe in putting all my FF eggs in 1 basket anymore. I have elite status on 3 airlines and I'm quite comfortable flying on each of them.

Unfortunately, it just shows how dependant US is on the full Y paying business traveller. The business model depends on it, so they'll give a way tons of useless miles in order to entice more high fare "expense account" travel. Meanwhile, those of us who have to watch our expenses will continue to book elsewhere....

AA has been doing this for years.

It's the carrot approach, instead of the stick approach that BBB and the boys tried last year. Maybe they finally hired somebody who does not treat the customer as the problem.

That's not quite fair. I've been booking almost all A fares lately PHL-SEA-PHL at a very reasonable rate for confirmed First. In fact, try upgrading to/from SEA these days. It's nearly impossible, mainly since US is selling out F with reasonable First class fares. I'll gladly pay a few hundred dollars more to not worry about upgrades.
