Tired of privatization?

The combination of spending less on education, so people are not as educated and are not taught to think critically, and then brain washing mega media that tell people what to think instead of giving them the facts and letting them come to thier own opinions.

Spending less where? Spending less when adjusted for inflation, less as a percentage of GDP. less per student?

Heres another 'prime' example of privatization:

California electricity crisis

Excerpt:
The California electricity crisis (also known as the Western Energy Crisis) of 2000 and 2001 resulted from the gaming of a partially deregulated California energy system by energy companies such as Enron and Reliant Energy. The energy crisis was characterized by a combination of extremely high prices and rolling blackouts. Price instability and spikes lasted from May 2000 to September 2001. Due to price controls, utility companies were paying more for electricity than they were allowed to charge customers, forcing the bankruptcy of Pacific Gas and Electric and the public bail out of Southern California Edison. This led to a shortage in energy and therefore, blackouts. Rolling blackouts began in June 2000 and recurred several times in the following 12 months.

I know one area where it wouldn’t hurt to try privatization. The ATC system is a poster child for. The FAA has been trying to update the ATC system for the past thirty years and have totally botched it. At this point what could it hurt.

Yea, brilliant!
Let’s give the contract to a good ole US company like Halliburton... DOH!
Or have the Airlines run it!

In all seriousness given the billions that have been pissed away by the FAA over the years for ATC "modernization" what could it hurt to set up a system like NAV Canada.

And if that worked, maybe we could set up Canadian style health care here in the states. Glad to see you're coming around.

Ha! Good one! 777 thinks socialism is only good when it benefits big business. But when it comes to giving money to the poor, thats a whole dif'rent story.
THEY SHOULD GET A JOB! AND STOP BEING LEACHES!
Maybe if the gov'ment hadnt given all these corporations tax breaks to ship their jobs to China, THERE MIGHT BE SOME JOBS!

Actually NAV Canada is a private sector company. If you were thinking it was an efficiently run government operation think again.

Coming around to what may I ask?

Do you support tax breaks for Big Oil? Just wondering, it is not an accusation but I truely would like to know where you stand.

Corporate America is looting our commons. That is why they want congress to lift the moratorium on off shore drilling. They already have leases on millions of acres of land that they believe has oil under it, yet that is not enough for them they want to control all the natural rescources we have so they can control the price. They actually do not want to drill drill drill. But they do want the leases so no one else can. It is greed. I may be a socialist but I think all of our natural resources should be nationalized. Lease them back to the private sector and allow them to make a reasonable profit and the rest goes back to the people.

No I'm not. However I'm not so sure things like windfall taxes will do any good other than make some politicians feel good about themselves.

I'm still wondering what you meant when you said the US spends less on education. Did you mean less as when it comes to percentage of GDP, per capita or adjusted for inflation?

I never said that....but keep looking to Canada for examples on ways to make our own country better. Personally, I think that a publicly traded company would try it's damndest in the US to get the most out of the fewest people, for the lowest pay. Because NAV Canada, even though it's a private sector company up there in Canada is missing one expense that any private concerns in the US would have....how to pay for the health insurance of those folks that they are hiring to modernize the ATC system. Unless you propose individuals to insure themselves with a GW Bush "Health Savings Account" - which would last how long for a one week stay in the hospital these days?

Gee, you don't say!
