First we were merging with United, Didn't happen.
Then we were merging with Delta, Didn't happen.
Then we were merging with American, Didn't happen.
THREE STRIKES YOUR OUT!!!!!!!
What part of Merger not gonna happen, don't you understand????

Wasn't looking forward to 2 weeks of Sabre training in DFW
Anyway. Looks like the DOJ did not like the Vendor language either. Those DCA agents must have friends in high places. This all happened just after the CWA TA came out with VENDOR terms.

Keep United our United
Keep Delta our Delta
Keep American our American
Keep Usairways our Usairways
Keep Southwest our Southwest
Keep JetBlue our Jetblue
Keep Alaska our Alaska
Keep Spirit our Spirit
Keep Hawaiian our Hawaiian
Sorry, Don't ever want to hear the word "MERGER" again.

And the beat goes on, and the beat goes on.

Please explain this... bill baer the govt antitrust idiot who blocked it for now even says that he is open to negogiations for us/aa to merge he made clear that he is willing to negogiate with both carriers

if soo what would the concessions be.... dca slots like quite a bit may be more than just that? i know youre against it as are most of aa folks and im sure a nbr of us folks personelly i dont care just as long i get a paycheck i also do not support the merger contracts first period til our donkeys runnin us gets serious about negogiations with our union i wont support any merger efforts

We must not give in on DCA , that station holds the key to this airlines future ...

DCA at all costs

There's no way this is all about a few DCA slots.

Successful negotiations with Baer might require so many concessions by AA and US that there would be no point in merging. IMO, it's DOA. Time to move on.

One of the more salty points was the 20mil to Horton. DOJ didn't appreciate AA and US saying " we are going to do it anyway"

He doesn't need 20 million for leading a company into BK,that should be the FIRST thing we giveup.

Having a bad day? You think the DoJ is going to stop this? How many mergers have they stopped in the past 10 years? Read their filing - its pathetic.

The AA creditors' committee is pushing for the $20 million, not AA management. Blocking the merger has nothing to do with Horton's severance payment.

Yes I think they are going to stop this. At this point it's a 50/50 coin toss. It will or will not happen. I'm just so tired of all the drama. Sorry.

Really? I know what ur going to say , that it is baer who decided, but the office is all encompassing!

DALLAS (AP) — A federal bankruptcy judge has denied a proposed $20 million severance payment for the CEO of American Airlines as part of the company's merger with US Airways.
5]The judge ruled late Thursday that the proposed payment to CEO Tom Horton exceeded limits that Congress set for bankruptcy cases in 2005.
5]The U.S. trustee's office, part of the Department of Justice, had objected to Horton's compensation. Judge Sean Lane declined to approve the payment during a hearing on March 28, but he didn't issue a ruling until Thursday.

hey don't argue with FWAA remember he was against this merger, then he was for it and now he says it's not going to happen again.

Ok, so you and Bob Owens think that it was the UCC's insistence on paying Horton $20 million that caused them to sue for an injunction to block the merger. IMO, you're both incorrect, but if you're right - and the deal tanks because of the severance, then good riddance to bad garbage (Parker and US).

The Trustee was probably going to win on this issue in the bankruptcy court. No way would they fabricate an antitrust violation as an excuse to defeat the merger.

I was never in favor of AA being forced to merge with Drunken Parker's US. Never.

That's the problem with making assumptions about people with whom you're not very familiar - you make an ass of yourself.

FWAA

Reread my post...i said one of the saltier points. Not the key point!

It's not up to Baer now. The judge will decide this based on the facts presented at trial.

Have you ever been a prosecuting attorney, DA, Ass't US attorney or ever worked for one of those?

Settlement negotiations between US-AA and the DOJ won't involve the judge except at the end to rule on the government's motion to dismiss if a settlement is reached.

That said, I don't think a settlement is in the cards.
